CONTAX FILTERS (Screw-in type)
Filters are generally referred as accessory but I would rather categorized them under the optical group. Like a group of Carl Zeiss lenses, the CONTAX filters are said to be made of especially selected optical glass, and they have been polished and ground to be superior in flatness and mounted to provide a surface totally parallel to the film plane.
I am not a fan of using filter to create picture but I always has one in place on my lenses because I think it makes a lot of sense to put a cheap filter to protect the lens. I remove the filter each time prior to my shooting. Well, that is just a personal preference and please don;t think what I am doing is right.Anyway, come to think of it., if that is such an essential element, the manufacturer could have just have filter built-in and user to replace it. But I think there are more sense when it relates to patch film makers for not able to come out with a films after all these decades of research to auto compensate color temperature...
Unless they don't offer any filters at all in their product line; but if they do - it just have to be complete set. So, you will see all CONTAX filters were being made for both black and white and color films; they are multicoated reduce flare.
Anyway, some filters are simply too good to resist using them in many situations that may demand enhancing effect, just like the Polarizer and split Neutral density etc. So, unless you like to take pictures always like to have a filter on, always invest into the best that you can afford especially when they are from the same camera/lens manufacturer as they usually put a lot of emphasize on quality factor on such accessory.
