Motor Drive MD-4

The MD-4 was designed and sculpted to provide an integrated, natural extension to all F3-series cameras. It features an all-metal die-cast body, sophisticated microcomputer and a winding mechanism that uses ball bearings. And thanks to exceptionally low winding torque, the MD-4 lets you shoot up to 140 rolls of 36-exp. film on one set of eight M-type alkaline batteries. Moreover, with the MD-4 attached, all camera functions are powered by the motor drive. And b~ using the cold-resistant NiCd Battery' Unit, you can even take pictures down to -20°C. A fast-action accessory you don't want to be without, the MD-4 provides non-stop excitement at the push of a button.

All controls are where you want them. The trigger button, plus mode selector with three settings: C (continuous), S (single frame), and L (lock) are at the top. On the back are two motorized rewind levers with a safety lock for automatic film rewinding. A built-in frame counter lets you predetermine the number of exposures to be shot in "C" mode.

Power Sources

Standard MS-3 Battery Clip Accepts 8 M-type penlight batteries.

External power terminal Allows the MA-4 AC/DC Converter to be connected to the MD-4. Remote terminal Enables a variety of remote control devices to be attached.

NiCd Battery Unit MN-2 and Charger MH-2 An optional battery unit and companion charger for faster firing rates. Also recommended for the MD-4 under extremely cold weather conditions. The MH-2 Quick Charger recharges NiCd batteries in approximately 3.5 hours. AC/DC Converter MA-4 Highly recommended when using the MD-4 for extended studio sessions. Supplies a stable 1 5V DC current. Used with MC-11 Connecting Cord.

MF-4 250-Exposure Magazine Back and MF-17 250-Exposure Data Back MF-4 allows uninterrupted shooting of 250 exposures without changing film. Used with two 250-Exposure MZ-1 Magazines for loading up to 10m of bulk film. Used in conjunction with MF-4, the MF-17 allows you to imprint data (Year/ Month/Day, Hour/Minute/Second or even handwritten memo) on the film. Requires Type S focusing screen. Both MF-4 and MF-17 are compatible with all F3-series cameras. Especially recommended for sports or scientific/industrial applications.

Firing Rate Converter MK-1 Attaches to the MD-4's base to provide three firing rates of 1, 2 or 3 frames per second (fps). Separate trigger button for easier vertical-format shooting.

MF-6B Camera Back Attaches to any F3-series camera in place of standard camera back for automatic film rewind-stop with film leader left outside the cartridge to permit easier darkroom handling.

Pistol Grip Model 2 Nikon's special pistol grip screws into either the camera's tripod socket or the tripod mounting collar of a super-telephoto lens to provide more stable handheld shooting. Connecting Cord MC-3A Necessary for electrical connection between Pistol Grip Model 2 and the remote-control socket on motor drive MD-4/MD-12, F4s, F-801 or F-301. MC-17 and MC-17S Connecting Cords Either MC-17 or MC-1 7S can be used to fire two motor-driven cameras (an F3-series camera w/MD-4 plus another MD-4 or MD-12 equipped camera) almost simultaneously. The MC-17 is approx. 3m long, MC-1 7S is approx. 0.4m long. Terminal Release MR-3 The MR-3 connects to the remotecontrol socket to provide an additional trigger button for firing motor drive and camera in vertical position. It also enables you to trigger the MD-12 with Nikon Cable Release AR-3 or Double Cable Release AR-7, or the MD-4 with the AR-3.

Radio Control Set MOO-2 Provides interference-free remote control for three separate channels to enable automatic operation of three motor-driven cameras at distances up to 0.7km. Easy to handle. Intervalometer MT-2 For unmanned time-lapse photography or work sampling. Quartz-controlled MT-2 provides either 2 sec. or 16 sec. delay shutter release, allowing time for flash recycling. Can also be used with other remote-control devices.

Accessories for Motor Drives

Remote Cord MC-10 Comes with convenient handgrip and trigger button for remote firing of the MD-4 or MD-12 at distances up to 3m. Remote Cord MC-12A Enables you to perform remote firing up to 3m. Used with MD-4 attached the Nikon F3-series camera. Direct us, also possible with F4s, F-801 or F-301. Remote Cord MC-4A The plug on one end of the MC-4A con nects to the camera's remote-control socket, the other end has both plus an minus banana-type plugs. These banan plugs enable you to simultaneously fire several motor-driven F3-series, F4s*, F-801*, F-301* or FM2 cameras. *Motor built-in.

Tripod Adapter AH-3 A convenient adapter with several different holes and sockets for the ideal match of camera/motor drive and tripo Cable Release AR-3 and Double Cable Release AR-7 Essential for slow shutter speeds, these cable releases ensure one-hand, vibration-free shutter release operation.

Back MF-14 (for F3-series)

Data Back MF-18 (for F3-series) For Nikon F3-series cameras equipped with a Nikon Motor Drive MD-4, the MF-18 displays time, date or any sequential number from -2 to 2000 and lets you imprint this data in the space between frames if so desired. The MF-18 also automatically stops film from being rewound completely back into the cartridge during auto rewind, and comes with a convenient builtin alarm.

Used with Nikon F3-series cameras, this interchangeable camera back comes with quartz-controlled clock and LCD to display time, date or sequential numbers from -2 to 2000, and lets you imprint this data in the lower right-hand corner of your photos if desired. A built-in alarm makes it very handy for travel. For snapshooters, scientists or anyone with the desire to create lasting memories.

Data Back MF-16 (for FM2)

For use with Nikon FM2 camera, the quartz-timed MF-16 Data Back lets you record Year/Month/Day or Day/Hour/ Minute on your pictures, or assign numbers. Whichever type of data you decide on will be clearly, unobtrusively printed on the finished photograph in red numerals.
