Photography in Malaysia Community Section: |
The respective Message Boards are some of the HARDEST hit section of the PIM site, if at any one time, the traffic is high - the table/content may take a while to load the data, just be patience. If it stalls, just click on the 'Reload' or 'Refresh' button on your browser menu once to re-attempt. Thank you.Share common knowledge & exchanging experience with your views on photography. I know the original Free Trade Zone section may has some restriction imposed on its content (only Buy/Sell Stuffs), but as requests are pouring in to create another section for other subjects other than buy/disposal of equipments, so, as much as I can offer, I have used the template for other existing message boards to create another section for all of you to use. As this is a non-profitable section, so I didn't ask our programming staffs to creste a dedicated thread-like format. I am not sure if this has served its purpose but nevertheless, it is a channel for all of you to utilise to express other thoughts on photography-related issues. A few volunteers have been appointed to edit the content as it requires. You may make use of this convenience here to present your own views. Enjoy.
This site is specifically created for common usage on photographic issues. Please don't mail me other than constructive suggestions or rectifying mistakes found in this site, thank you. If your intention is to dispose your photographic equipment(s) or its accompanying accessories or looking for a used model or any of its system components, please use the ORIGINAL FTZ section with a higher volume of traffic Free Trade Zone site instead. Curious: yah. IF they reveils, no business... anyway, first time on a forum, I kinda like MIR (so, far, only local website that has the internatonal recognition - great !). Has been hanging around in the FTZ for a few years (bought and traded some small accessories).
It is good to find another alternate forum for chit-chatting.. lastly, I have noticed the Canon EOS-1n site is still under construction, please hurry up a little, mr. leofoo. I visited the Nikon F4 and Nikon F5 sites, GREAT STUFFS ! but I am a CANON-buff..so, hopefully I can see another comparing high quality info reference site such as the Nikon - can't wait to see it going live. Thank You, Sir.

WHERE does repiar centre(s) sent their eletronic SLRs to (says a Canon A-1) for servicing ? Most cameras have no supoort by producers and where did they get parts from ? trade secret, I think.

I have just answered a similar question on another message board of yours (can't rememeber the model), so I would just copied the same answer here (earlier answer was related to an auto Nikon FG but basic theory is the same):-
<i>Manual focus Nikkor ultrawides are still very exepensive (If $$$ is not an issue, that is fine with me..). I would think a modern AF ultrawide-Zoom is more logical choice than fixed focal length Nikkor. But new Nikon's G-series lenses CANNOT be control using the aperture ring for older manual focus Nikons - the FG can operate this in in Programmed AE or may be in other mddes BUT the problem is, the G-series AF Nikor's aperture cannot be control (so, out you go (Stupid design). Anyway, third party labels like Sigma, Tokina, and Tamron has many options to be considered..."<i/>
By the way, great site.

i don want to comment on the nikon/canon. but the second one is interesting, some said cameras is like computer (120 hz to 3 gz hz); but camera lasts - many old cameras like my nikon fm still works (bought in 1979), computers don't lah. i am using a f80 so, brother - that is scarry thought-man. don remind us lah. just let us enjoy what we have okay ? but now you have made me regret too because most of us takut blur images, so, i have never used predictive fosus (only single af) so, that makes perfect sense..i think. but it is a joke to get a f4 as backup as it should be the other way round..

This ia a interesting thought (film camera) I picked up from a thread at the Nikon F4 meassage board (http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/hardwares/messageboard/f4seriesmsg/index.php3): .."...Yeap. Between the new & old: - New Nikon F65 package: £197.87. Used, recent posted clean, Nikon F4s on Ebay buy-it-now at USD 399-00 (another used conditioned F4s at only USD 275 !). conventional logical thinking will easily tell you - just take the F4s !! over time, a classic's value should retain with little hurt on the investment, the F65 may end up in junk sales yard & lucky to get back 1/4 of original value...the same goes for digital cameras whcih may suffer even WORST in depreciation of values .. ".. makes plenty of sense.
Mati lah .. What do you all think ?

It can sound very amusing.
Other than an excellent product specs, Canon's current success stories PARTLY comes from emulating Nikon's ways in the '60 by providing support to the pros first - it works like a miracle. So, some of the dilemma Nikon faces actually originates from headquarters.
So, should I say - Nikon has forgotten how they started,,,

In responding to the earlier post:- NOT fair to "Nikon". It is the people that has made it worst .. old cultures & same old gang from the previous Shiroro (?).

That is a generous budget. Yes. Any of the few mentioned models will serve all your needs. So, it can just boil down to selecting which label. Personally, I felt the Sony is too bulky, Minolta & Nikon local support has been "notorious" (+ expensive), so, in case your camera requires certain kind of services, this may be be an "experience" with them, Canon can be the choice (you can go for alternatives, they are cheaper..).
However, as each have their own strength and some areas that might be less desirable, it is hard to conclude a rightful choice in a few sentences But if I were to start all over again, I would choose Canon - Good lens, very compact and easy to get it fix if something screws up. (hey, I am using a Nikon 5700 too but advice is an advice, I don't want others to "suffer" like what I been through (hopeless service + marketing - these guys should be @%#@*&*..).
Anyway, I think there is also No hurry rush to get any of the fancy accessories first, get the camera and familiar with its functions and decides later.
