Modern Classic SLRs Series : |
The Nikon FM Series is the longest serving model and the popular 35mm mechanical SLR in the market. In a series of fine camera design and manufacturing, Nikon introduced the Nikon FM dating back to 1977 which remains until today with a series of variations and updates. As every individual photographer has his own personal style to express himself visually while at the same time, maintain his own photographic equipment in a very personal manner, This section allows you to share mutual knowledge & experience among all Nikon FM series camera users. Some of the opinion presented in this site was very personal I hate to see them affecting a decision regardless it is an acceptance or rejection any of the models within the series. So, here is a section dedicated to all of you where you may also present yours. I do hope it is beneficial to all of you. Enjoy.

Having found this site by accident, I was inspired to purchase a NOS (new old stock) Nikon FM2n. I visit this site daily and it has been a treasure trove for me in making decisions on what lenses and accessories to buy. I purchased a Nikon 50mm F1.8 AI-s lens first and have just ordered the TC-201 teleconverter. Can any help in guiding me to a site where I can purchase / download the user manual for both the lens and teleconverter? Neither the lens nor the teleconverter have the original user manual and while I have no problem using the lens, I would love to have the user manual for the TC-201. Thanks to the information on this site , I have also purchased the MD-12 motor-drive and SB16 Flash.
Thank you very much for this fantastic site.

Hi I have just revived a nikon fm2 that I bought on eBay, when I look at the camera body just above the self timer there is a L logo in a silver circle and the same logo is on the 1.4 50mm lens on the focusing ring. The L logo looks like the Leica L, I have only seen one other picture on google like this but with no info. Could anyone shed some light on this please?

Early FM model.....meter diodes fluctuate and blink and after moving viewfinder around usually get a zeroed "O" setting, but it is very touchy. How can I check this and possibly repair?
Thanks'

I've seen this question asked and answered many times on the net but this information at best is several years old. Is there a reliable, trustworthy, reasonable Nikon repair site to have a Nikon FM CLA'd? I live in the washington DC area. Most of the places I've used in the past are either out of business or appears to be everybody's "nightmare". Please help.....8. From : daniel diorio (eflat007@hotmail.com)

Hi Paul:
That is a Nikon FM. The other cameras in the FM series (FM2 and FM2N) have a higher, 1/4000 second top shutter speed.10. I have inherited a Nikon SLR Camera and I am trying to identify the model and date. There is a serial number Nikon FM2132096. Apart from this there is a sticker on the camera body with a number 7593.
The camera has 12 shutter speeds from B to 1000. The 100mm lens is a Nikon E Series 1848428.
I have guessed this may be a FM series camera because of the serial no but apologies if I have posted in the wrong section. Welcome any thoughts thanks
