Modern Classic SLRs Series : |
The Nikon FM Series is the longest serving model and the popular 35mm mechanical SLR in the market. In a series of fine camera design and manufacturing, Nikon introduced the Nikon FM dating back to 1977 which remains until today with a series of variations and updates. As every individual photographer has his own personal style to express himself visually while at the same time, maintain his own photographic equipment in a very personal manner, This section allows you to share mutual knowledge & experience among all Nikon FM series camera users. Hi - I'm looking for a replacement of the original leather sheath/case that came with the camera (Nikon FM SLR 35mm) - mine succumbed to mould and mildew in Natal South Africa. If anyone can help (and should I look for a 'hard' or a 'soft' case?) I'd be most grateful! Kathy2. From : william (gungadunga@hotmail.com)

My FM2N has a serial number starting with N86xxxxx. Does it mean it was built in 1986? I bought it used a couple of years ago... thanks3. From : K. Kuykendall (maxdog@inxpress.net)

Spare-parts needed! Does anybody here have or know a good source for parts? I need: Shutter-curtains for FM2 - both the aluminium and titanium ones. Topplate for a FM. Bottom-plates for FM and FM2 (black and chrome) Okular diopter 0 - I know these can be bought on eBay, but it's easier to get the whole lot from one source. Thanks!5. Re: Andreas' FM shutter problem.
The problem you are having is not a well-known problem with the Nikon FM or FM2.
Is the black spot evenly distributed across the whole negative-frame? Did the problem just occur? Is it related to some shutter-speeds only? Please describe the problem a bit more in detail, and I might be able to help!

Hi, my FM needs some fixing of the shutter.. I`ve black parts from time to time in the lower area of my pictures.. so the second curtain is a tick too fast I think.. now.. is this a thing I can fix myself? I have experience in building electronic circuits but no in mechanics.. what do you think? Andreas8. From : eddie (suedgar@htomail.com)

Thanks again. I already have that 36/72 it was the "kitlens" that came along. Anyway, I have a question on how to get a good exposure. Do you focus on the subject first. and then recompose the picture to get an exposure reading before snapping away? or do you have to specifically point at a midtone in the picture to get the average exposure value fisrt? before taking the picture. ed9. Have you picked that 36/72 ? Return it if the seller IF he accepts refund policy. Actually, juts buy the 28mm Nikkor that will do for your needs. Save and get a Micro-Nikkor at 105mm (older 105mm/f4) sounds a better choice than the more pricey f/2.8. You ought to listen if not why bother'asking questions because MOST of us more or less know what are the "best value" Nikkors as we been through the same "painful" path you are walking on now..but if you can pay, get the AF-D lenses then just in case, one day you might buy an AF/Digital body.10. Thanks Captain Nikon,
I managed to get hold of a used 80-200 F4 at a decent price. Now, I have Eseries 36-72, 80-200 f4, and I guess like you say, I really need a prime 28mm f2.8, a micro lens and a convertor for the 80-200.
I have an interesting problem today doing some nite shooting. I was trying to capture a night cityscape. But the exposure meter refuses to give me a proper reading, most of the time it shows a (-) and at a certain shutter speed it shows all (+) (0) and(-)
, making it very hard for me to determine what shutter speed to use. Anyone has had this problem too?
