Modern Classic SLRs Series :
Nikon FM Series SLR camera models - Message Board/Guestbook

The Nikon FM Series is the longest serving model and the popular 35mm mechanical SLR in the market. In a series of fine camera design and manufacturing, Nikon introduced the Nikon FM dating back to 1977 which remains until today with a series of variations and updates. As every individual photographer has his own personal style to express himself visually while at the same time, maintain his own photographic equipment in a very personal manner, This section allows you to share mutual knowledge & experience among all Nikon FM series camera users. Some of the opinion presented in this site was very personal I hate to see them affecting a decision regardless it is an acceptance or rejection any of the models within the series. So, here is a section dedicated to all of you where you may also present yours. I do hope it is beneficial to all of you. Enjoy.

This site is specifically created for some of these great SLR bodies by Nikon, its creator. To Michael Marcus: You cannot mount a non-AI lens to the FM3A body, otherwise you risk severe damage of the camera. But it is possible to rebuild a non-AI lens to an AI lens (most Nikon workshops do). Rgds. Hermann

Hi All I've had an FM for many years. Wonderful camera. Yesterday I found a secondhand MD-11 in my local camera shop, very cheap. I fitted it to the FM, and the MD-11 works, but (and it's a bit but), I've obvioulsy got a loose connection someplace, as it only works as it should if I alternate the orientation of the camera between normal and face down. Only then does it wind as it should. Otherwise it flutters and doesn't wind on. I don't knwo if the camera or the MD-11 is at fault. The camera is OK otherwise. Any thoughts? Cheers Barry

I am hoping that someone can help me with this question. I have a number of non-AI Nikkor lenses from the 1960's - 70's? they have the "rabbit ear" thing that was made to be coupled to the meter of the FTN. Can these lenses be used on the FM3A? Easily or with difficulty/some modification? I appreciate any answer to this. thank you!

I want to sell my Nikon FM camera. Though I have had it for a while, it is not used at all and is in excellent condition. I also have zoom lens with the camera (Sigma - made for Nikon) and a Vivitar Auto flash. I would like $ 400 for it but we could negotiate. Thanks. Rick

I recently was given a Nikon camera as a gift. I'm very unsure on how to operate it. I know that I broke the Film wind crank, even though the film still rewinds. How much will that cost to get fixed? Also looking at your website I realize that my camera was made between 1982 and 1983. From the picture on your website I guess that I have a Nikon FE2, FG, or FM(2). I'm not exactly sure which one it is. I'm really excited about camera but extremely confessed about it. Can someone please help me!!! Thanks in Advance, Latoya Littlejohn MSC 1690 1600 Harden Street Columbia, SC 29204

I'd like to buy a fm3a but I have had many problems with my f80 nikon because of bad construction of the back structure, the small roller near the film pressure plate left many scratches on the film! So I am quite worried about the same problem with other cameras. What about the anti-curl roller on the fm3a? Is it the same size of the film or is it larger? Thanks a lot for your reply.
