Modern Classic SLRs Series :
Nikon FM Series SLR camera models - Message Board/Guestbook

The Nikon FM Series is the longest serving model and the popular 35mm mechanical SLR in the market. In a series of fine camera design and manufacturing, Nikon introduced the Nikon FM dating back to 1977 which remains until today with a series of variations and updates. As every individual photographer has his own personal style to express himself visually while at the same time, maintain his own photographic equipment in a very personal manner, This section allows you to share mutual knowledge & experience among all Nikon FM series camera users. Some of the opinion presented in this site was very personal I hate to see them affecting a decision regardless it is an acceptance or rejection any of the models within the series. So, here is a section dedicated to all of you where you may also present yours. I do hope it is beneficial to all of you. Enjoy.

This site is specifically created for some of these great SLR bodies by Nikon, its creator. To Galarneau: It is normal that you see only half of the aperture figures in the ADR display if you do not have set a full aperture, i.e., at click stop position. This indicates that an aperture in between is selected. Just change to a click stop position.

To Adria: The Metz SCA adapter you need is the 343 (for Nikon manual focus cameras). For AF cameras, there is the 3000 series. You should check wether the SCA 343 fits on your flash (I have no experience with the Metz MZ-54).

I have an old FM2 and the light meter appears to be faulty. The under-exposure LED stays on when the shutter is half depressed. I can see the other LED's "blip" on and then off when I press the shutter so I know, at least, that they are working. It could be completely gone but I'm guessing it may need calibration - any thoughts? Cheers P.

The problem MAY not necessary be with the camera but I suspect It is caused by the rear end of the zoom lense. The aperture lever on your Nikkor Zoom lens is misalligned. It causes the aperture control lever inside the lens mount (camera section) to trip earlier than expected. I have my 20mm Nikkor wide fixed this problem a few years ago - in fact, my camera's lens mounting ring later became damaged and has to replaced with a new one (because I delayed repairing it for six months later because I often need to make use of the wideangle and I always thought my camera turned faulty).

FM3a. Anybody out there sort out my problem. When I use my AF zoom lens, as I wind it on it takes another frame. Anyone else had this problem. It does not do it with static lens. Cheers. Please advise. Mikey

I have a Nikon FM2 and the shutter release button is stuck. Its in the so called "lock" situation. I have no idea how it got to be like that.. happened when I was shooting a roll.. The Film advance lever is not in the lock position. Infact it loose in the sense that when its unlocked, no pressure has to be applied to turn it. Any ideas ? thanks in advance

Hi, I have a question about the FM2n and MD-12 motor drive. I inherited these two recently. How do I turn the MD-12 on. A lot of times even after turning the switch on the motor drive to the on position, the motor drive does not turn on even after I depress the shuter release on the motor drive. It eventually works after I cock and uncock the wider a few times. Is there a special protocol for turning the MD-12 on? Thanks, Ed
