Modern Classic SLRs Series : |
The Nikon FM Series is the longest serving model and the popular 35mm mechanical SLR in the market. In a series of fine camera design and manufacturing, Nikon introduced the Nikon FM dating back to 1977 which remains until today with a series of variations and updates. As every individual photographer has his own personal style to express himself visually while at the same time, maintain his own photographic equipment in a very personal manner, This section allows you to share mutual knowledge & experience among all Nikon FM series camera users. Some of the opinion presented in this site was very personal I hate to see them affecting a decision regardless it is an acceptance or rejection any of the models within the series. So, here is a section dedicated to all of you where you may also present yours. I do hope it is beneficial to all of you. Enjoy.

Hello, I bought a FM10 camera recently. I can not understand one specification on FM 10. What does EV 2-19 stand for? Could anyone please clarify this for me? Also, I have a Canon AE-1 camera. The light meter is broken. I went to Wolf Camera to ask how much it would cost to fix. But the price is too high, $137. Does anyone know where I can get it fixed for a cheaper price, in the Chicago, Illinois area? Or does anyone know how I can fix it myself. Please help.6. From : Syd Croft (s.croft@blueyonder.co.uk)

I have recently been given a Nikon FM2 body. Unfortunately it has a problem similar to that decribed by Brian Egerton, i.e. the shutter will not trip and the film advance lever hangs up half way. Is this a common problem with FM2s, and is there a solution other than an expensive repair? I know nothing of the camera's history except there is clear evidence of it being dropped at some stage.7. Does Nikon Motor drive have to be connected for its on/off switch to work. That is if you load the batteries will the LED light work on the motor drive, if the drive is not attached to the camera? Also. It seems the diagram on the battery case says to load the batteries with the positive battaery terminal against the spring. I always thought the negative terminal went against the spring? Thank you8. From : Tom Yazer (tyazer@yahoo.com)

I recently inherited a 1969 Nikon FTn from my father. I just had the shutter replaced and the camera is in peak condition. Some minor scratches on the exterior, some brassing, but nothing that impedes its function. The Ftn lightmeter gets goos and gaas from anyone who looks at it...it's pristine. However,I'd like to move up to an Fm2n and enjoy some of the benefits of the lighter body and capabilities of the camera. Please email me if anyone is interested in a trade or would like pictures of the camera. I'm located in New Brunswick, Canada. Hope someone can help me9. From : brian egerton (daisy3@gbis.com)

The film advance lever hangs up half way so I can't fully cock it. I'm 100 miles from the nearest camera shop so does anyone have any suggestions?10. Lisa - You may see what is wrong if you detach the bottom plate. What you describe could be symptoms of "pendulum disorder". If you need further help, please join the group listed above.
