Modern Classic SLRs Series : |
The Nikon FM Series is the longest serving model and the popular 35mm mechanical SLR in the market. In a series of fine camera design and manufacturing, Nikon introduced the Nikon FM dating back to 1977 which remains until today with a series of variations and updates. As every individual photographer has his own personal style to express himself visually while at the same time, maintain his own photographic equipment in a very personal manner, This section allows you to share mutual knowledge & experience among all Nikon FM series camera users. I looking for a way to get a fill-in Flash effect on a FM3a. This great camera does TTL flash metering, and has a -1 EV flash compensation button, but not any auto fill-in function.
Is there any other techniques to flash subjects more...gently with this camera ?
(like would changing the exposture compensation dial to about -2 EV work ? )
thanks for any help.

I am trying to find out any information about a Nikon Model- FP. From what I can tell by the pictures it looks identical to the FM. Does anyone know any history of the FP Model? I am guessing that it was made very near the same time (1975-1977).3. From : Lars (NikonRepair-owner@yahoogroups.com)

Dave and Stephen, It seems your shutter problems is related with the winding. This type of problem can often be addressed by taking the bottom plate off. If you need assistance, please join the group mentioned above. Best regards, Lars4. From : jay (dosti99@hotmail.com)

FINALLY and after much searching -- had great success with the repair of shutter problems (Nikon FM) and rebuilding of MD-12 motor drive. Also got good suggestion for "repair" for cracking/peeling of original case - camera/motor drive combination. (FM and case repair) CAMERA TECH in Anaheim, California

Problem with Nikon FM... The curtain closest to the back of the camera does not lock down properly when winding on. It springs back up instead of staying down. As a result I can't use the camera. Has anyone had this kind of problem? Can you suggest why it happens and how to fix? Does anyone know where I can download as manual.9. From : John Hass (jahsurfer3@mitec.net)

Just bought a used Nikon FM2n camera and the shutter will not release from the shutter button, but it will release from the autowinder button on the bottom of the camera. It looks as if this camera had an autowinder on it at some point. Is there a disconnect switch or something I must do to reengage the shutter release button? Otherwise the camera is in excellent condition and I got it at a real bargain. Thanks, Dave
