Modern Classic SLRs Series : |
The Nikon FM Series is the longest serving model and the popular 35mm mechanical SLR in the market. In a series of fine camera design and manufacturing, Nikon introduced the Nikon FM dating back to 1977 which remains until today with a series of variations and updates. Finally, I can find a serious write-up featuring the Nikon FM3A camera on the Internet. Cannot wait to see the actual reviews being published. I have bookmarked this site and will check on regularly. Anyway, I have picked up quite a few tricks from the manual too. One word to summarized my experience after hours browsing through this website - Simply GREAT ! Cheers !2. From : Neil V. Between an used FM2 and the new FM3A, which is the better choice ? I was offered a FM2n here in Hong Kong and it is almost halve in price than the new camera, but I am quite attracted to the FM3A camera. The manual is good to give me a indicative idea what can I expect from the new body, but it is just too pricey and need some good justification. Hope to have some general opinion on the board here, I am traveling right now. By the way, what a great site ! Cheers.3. From : David Letz (dletz@houston.rr.com)

I know it may sound stupid but I don't want to invest into a new screen. The FM3A site mentioned the use of new brighter screen on the FM2n dos not need exposure compensation, but can I use the older grid screen on the FM3A and do I have to make exposure compensation ? Any guide on this topic will be very much appreciated. I like my new camera and yes I do agree the newly created manual section here is much better organized than the original manual by Nikon. Dave: I noticed Leonard has put up an excellent online enhanced version based on the original Instruction manual for the Nikon FM3A; there is a section addressing the lens compatibility for the FM3A, may be you should take a look and figure out before you commit anything on getting any compatible Nikkor lenses for the new camera. http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/hardwares/classics/nikonfmseries/fm3a/manual/index.htm6. I am considering buying a Nikon FM3A. I am confused as to which kind of Nikkor lenses will work with this camera. I noticed that some manual lenses are more expensive than autofocus lenses. Why is that? Are there any lens brands out there that compare to Nikon, that will mount on a Nikon FM? Thanks for your reply.8. From : Tanni Pangilinan (tanni@graphic-designer.com)

I have been enjoying my Nikon FM Camera for almost 10 years now....I havent found any defects on it. With my MD12 and a Sigma 28-200mm UC Aspherical which I brought a year ago, I find it worth to spend on Nikon FM model. Nothing Conmpare! FM forever!

Hi, I've heard it's the end of all of the mechanical shutters. It seems Leica can't find anything to keep on producing it R6 series. How about Nikon ? Where is the FM3a made ??? Thanks, Emane10.
