Modern Classic SLRs Series :
Nikon FM Series SLR camera models - Message Board/Guestbook

The Nikon FM Series is the longest serving model and the popular 35mm mechanical SLR in the market. In a series of fine camera design and manufacturing, Nikon introduced the Nikon FM dating back to 1977 which remains until today with a series of variations and updates. As every individual photographer has his own personal style to express himself visually while at the same time, maintain his own photographic equipment in a very personal manner, This section allows you to share mutual knowledge & experience among all Nikon FM series camera users. Some of the opinion presented in this site was very personal I hate to see them affecting a decision regardless it is an acceptance or rejection any of the models within the series. So, here is a section dedicated to all of you where you may also present yours. I do hope it is beneficial to all of you. Enjoy.

This site is specifically created for some of these great SLR bodies by Nikon, its creator. Addendum to previous message: The yellowish tint which sometimes appears over half of the image in the view finder does not show up on the actual photos. Mike

I recently purchased a new (circular) Nikon polarizer for use with my 28-105 Nikon lens. The gradation change as the filter is turned does not seem very apparent compared with my old non-circular type polarizer. Also, often half of the image is yellowish and remains half clear. It is annoying to see this through the view finder. My old polarizer did not do that either. It simply went from lighter to darker as the ring was turned. I know that I don't need a circular type polarizer for lenses manually focused, but Nikon sells it for use with both focusing systems.

Is this normal for this polarizer? Or can someone explain what may be causing this to happen?

Muchas gracias por su atención. i just started using my FM10 few years back and have been content with the lens so far. however, I am looking to delve into getting a better zoom lens for general application shots.
What type of lens should I be looking at? I know that there are AF type lenses but I am not sure if these fit my manual SLR. I was under the impression that AF stood for autofocus and, therefore, was reserved specifically for AF cameras only. Is this correct? I know about different brands and their tailored lens models for specific brands so thats not oo much of a detail I don't know a bit about. Any help would be great.

Mic

i have been using the nikon fm10 for about 3 months now and i have found it to be a fantastic camera. it suits my needs in that its lighter that the fm2n and it does what i need it to do. however i was dissapionted that it didn't fit the thens of cannon eos 500 of which i have a very nice 75-300 mm lens but i dislike the cannon due the atomatic shutter and aputre settings so in my experience the fm10 is a great camera. fj

Hello, Kuala: (unable to reach you by personal eMail). I appreciate your honest response. I agree I was lax in not checking the cord for the MF 12. But I was 'assured' the cord would be 'easy' to find. Ha. At any rate, could you offer advice on how to contact Shriro Malaysia to follow up on the suggestion you stated in your reply ?? Thanks again ! Ron

Well, up until two years, Nikon still has this items in their product listing. Our local distributor Shriro Malaysia still can order one from Japan on behalf, now that Nikon has its own marketing office opned in Malaysia, I am not so sure of they still sell that accessory. Anyway, it was a big mistake by not checking if your used MF-12 came with that sync cord. I would assume you are from US, why don't you check with them ? While stocks last .... Warm Regards from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
