Sometimes we all become too interested in the camera body because that is where most of the gadgets are. But it is the lens that makes the picture and most often the lens has a more direct influence on the eventual image quality 'output'. If economy is a consideration, you should consider buy a less expensive camera body rather than less expensive lenses. If you buy a SLR camera with only one lens is also not logical because you might as well buy a cheaper camera with a fixed, non-interchangeable lens like a P&S. But modern lenses has such fantastic features such as high power zoom with previously unimaginable zoom range which actually makes a single-lens-do-all photographic system viable. All those messages posted on the variuos Message Boards for SLR Models are not short of interesting comment and remarks on lenses. Well, not to confuse others who are just interested in cameras, I thought there is a neccessity for a separate Message Board for those who are interested in discussion on various issues on lenses as well..
Unlike the Message designed for camera of various makes, this MB is one-for-all type and thus I hope this section can be maintained as a peaceful zone. The maintainer of this site reserved all the right to censor or even delete any un-related, excessively hostile messages posted herein. This site is specifically created just for lenses. If your intention is to dispose your optics or looking for any used unit, please use the Free Trade Zone site instead. The Photography In Malaysia has no Guestbook on its own, because it is an integral part of the MIR site. But if you want to leave a note on your experience visiting this site, you may use the MIR's MIR Guestbook | instead.

To Franklin Corfutt: The 105/2.8D micro lens will make a good addition to your arsenal. It'd be great for shooting flowers but I do not think you will like the portraits shot with this lens. The image is sharp to the point of being harsh. Girls (especially those with pimples) will hate you for it All the friends I know always screw on a Nikon Soft 1 filter over it to take away the harshness.2. I have a 24-120mm 3.5,50mm 1.4, 80-200mm 2.8 nikon lenses I'm looking at a 105mm 2.8 micro lense, with my 24-105mm would you say it's too close? I like to take photos of flowers and people with the micro feature and the 105mm I thought it would be a good addition to my arsenal. Any suggestions? FTCrofutt@aol.com3. I just purchased a Nikon EM with a 50mm Series E lens. What can I expect to pay for a Series E 75-210? How does a used Tamrom and Vivitar Series 1 zoom compare to the Series E? Thanks for the help. 2.From Laurent (Sat Mar 11 04:21:23 2000 ):4. From : Kaipin (kaipinc@tm.net.my)

TO MGILLE: Rest assured that all the lenses produced by established camera manufacturers are of the highest quality available. Exceptions to be made only from the Japanese makers because they also have budget-priced lenses in their line-up for both beginners and amateurs. While the qualities on these budget-priced lenses cannot be compared to the high performance types, they are still better than most lenses made by independent makers. So relax and enjoy photography with the 45mm Tessar lens for your Contax or Yashica camera.5. From : MGille (mgille@flash.net)

TO AMY: It is quite simple. An L-series FD lens is identified by a red ring around its barrel plus the words "Canon Lens FD 100-300mm f/5.6L" engraved atop or underneath the red ring area. A non-L series lens will not have the red ring. Furthermore, to make sure whether your lens is the older or newer version (there were two non-L series versions), the original has a narrower texture on its focusing/zooming ring and the improved version has a looser texture.10.
