Sometimes we all become too interested in the camera body because that is where most of the gadgets are. But it is the lens that makes the picture and most often the lens has a more direct influence on the eventual image quality 'output'. If economy is a consideration, you should consider buy a less expensive camera body rather than less expensive lenses. If you buy a SLR camera with only one lens is also not logical because you might as well buy a cheaper camera with a fixed, non-interchangeable lens like a P&S. But modern lenses has such fantastic features such as high power zoom with previously unimaginable zoom range which actually makes a single-lens-do-all photographic system viable. All those messages posted on the variuos Message Boards for SLR Models are not short of interesting comment and remarks on lenses. Well, not to confuse others who are just interested in cameras, I thought there is a neccessity for a separate Message Board for those who are interested in discussion on various issues on lenses as well..
Unlike the Message designed for camera of various makes, this MB is one-for-all type and thus I hope this section can be maintained as a peaceful zone. The maintainer of this site reserved all the right to censor or even delete any un-related, excessively hostile messages posted herein. This site is specifically created just for lenses. If your intention is to dispose your optics or looking for any used unit, please use the Free Trade Zone site instead. The Photography In Malaysia has no Guestbook on its own, because it is an integral part of the MIR site. But if you want to leave a note on your experience visiting this site, you may use the MIR's MIR Guestbook | instead.

I'm looking for a new camera system and have a pretty good offer on a Nikon F60 (I think its called the N60 in the U.S.) with a AF Zoom-Nikkor 28-80mm/3.5-5.6 D (I think) and a AF Zoom-Nikkor 75-240mm/4.5-5.6 D. I was wondering, if anybody has any comments on this system. I know it's a beginners choice but I'm looking to compare it with the Canon EOS 300 system and really need some advice. Thanks a lot !!! I have a AF Nikkor 80-200 1:2.8 that is not a "D" series. I sent it to Nikon to fix play in the zoom apparatus. They said Nikon no longer makes parts for this lens. Does anyone know of a reputable service center that can fix my lens? Phone me at 219-272-8329 Collect. Thanks, David L.Patton Jr.5. From : Jwoods (centurywood@yahoo.com)

Refer from this site: Nikon Lens Terminology by Michael Liu of MIT, "Nikkor-X (X refers to the number of elements in the lens design): 1.U; 2.B; 3.T; 4.Q; 5.P; 6.H ; 7.S; 8.O; 9.N; 10.D Note that these can be combined for prime lenses with more than ten elements, e.g. the Nikkor-UD 20mm f/3.5 (72mm filter), which has eleven elements. Note also that zooms (and other lenses with a designation prefix, e.g. Micro-, Fisheye-, etc.) do not indicate the number of elements in the lens this way.Source: http://www.mir.com.my/~michaeliu/f/foriglenses.html6. TO SHANNON: Click the above Canon FD lens image above (2nd from left) which will brings you to the FD Lenses resources section. From there, you can go through the type of FD lenses most suitable for your needs. Look for lenses having focal lengths of between 28mm and 300mm, including FD zoom lenses for the types of photography that you ar einterested. Also look for fast aperture fixed focal length lenses (f/1.8 to /1.2)since you mentioned about wrestling. Since these lenses are no longer in production, you can still buy them from used camera dealers, whether online or by mail orders. Those operating online are Keh Camera Broker and B & H Photo. The former is an exclusive 100% used dealer while the latter sells both new and used items. Their URLs are http://www.keh.com/ and http://www.bhphoto.com/ ...... Happy Surfing.
