The
day after...
It
took an Asian to appreciate what this picture relates to the hurt and agony faced
by them.
The last chapter of the Asian Financial Crises ended with the Hedge Funds retreating
from the Battle of HK Currencies market with a remark '... whatever the outcome,
when your people wake up tomorrow, recession and compression of economy is only just
starting ...." They are not exaggerating, take the case for Indonesia with a
population of close to One hundred and Eighty million, all of a sudden, at one stage,
the value of 2,000 Rupiah to a US Dollar was depreciated to 15,000 to a dollar in
currency conversion - almost to a state of melt down.... Naturally, Indonesia went
through a difficult political evolution, resulting the step down of 2 Presidents
within the span of 5 years.
