Perhaps one of the most commonly installed spirit house outside compund of many Thai home or for bussiness enterprises can be the Four -Faced Buddha image (see a relative Cambodian way, it is slightly different). I remembered I did my first visit to te Erawan shrine (San Phra Phrom) some 20+ years go (the name Erawan was deprives from Brahma's 33-headed elephant and the current state of its four faces represents the Face of Peace/ Health, Face of Good inter-human relationships, Face of good Fortune and Face of Protection Against Evil. The original image was actually situated at the Erawan Hotel but it hs made way for the Grand Hyatt Hotel at the same location. But the image was positioned at the side of the intersection of an ever busy Rajprasong area. During a visit at subsequent years, I noticed it has installed (or rebusnished) with all new bright image. The 4-faced Buddha has a very strong following in and around the country, especially clebrities from Hong Kong. Some juicy story lines of wish-and-got have also spearheaded its pupularities. Today, the region around the Shrine has developed at one of the most busiest business area in Bangkok with numerous 5-stars Hotels (such as Hyatt, Conrad etc. but also has many four-stars accomodation), Shooping malls such as the SOGO and World Trade Centre (makes way for a new high end shopping complex in 2006) + others; Besides, there are two levels of of LRT and makes it highly accessible.
