Photographic Contributions Needed ! Where are you going to be when we move in to the 21st Century ? What will you be doing ? What will the other people around you be doing ? Do you have a camera ?
I'm putting together a global New Yearís Eve Project, and I need help! I hope for two thousand photographic contributions from every corner of the world to be put together chronologically, in order to create an historic photographic record to mark the turning of the century.
Quality photos (not the family album variety) of anything and everything are desired ñ whatever catches your attention. No matter how personal, detached, artistic, empirical. Portraiture, landscape, wildlife, parties, tragedies, solitude, noise ñ whatever!! Iím interested in including what was happening everywhere between 5am 31st December, 1999 to 11:30pm 1st January, 2000! Poetry, anecdotes, quotes from the photographed or photographer are also welcome. Any thoughts, feelings and expressions related to this momentous event, no matter how banal or profane, or profound. I also want to include those remote areas in the world where photographic processing is hard to come by ñ so if you, or someone you know is travelling to these places over the New Yearís Eve period, please tell them!!
Specifications include:
S Location and time to accompany each photographic print
S Negative and/or slide to be included
S Send the print/s and film sandwiched between two pieces of cardboard within the envelope (to protect it from damage in the postal system!)
S Include your name and contact address
S If supplying your original neg/slide is not preferable, have copies made for me instead.
This flyer is being sent to 150 countries in the hope of making this project as diverse as possible. Ultimately, I hope to make an exhibit of this global community work ñ and if I gain commercial interest in this project, I will reimburse your contribution with financial reward and donate 50% to charity! This is a dream of mine; I hope you can help me to fulfil it!

Comments: Hi - I am the past president and current international correspondent for
the Borderline Camera Club located one hour south of Vancovuer, British
Columbia, Canada in Bellingham, Washington USA. Our membership ranges between 35
and 55 members and is extremely active. We have many women in our
organization although I am not certain of the ratio.
We shoot slides and prints and enter both in contests. One outing we
enjoy are our scavenger hunts which take place a couple times a year.
The program chairman picks an area (usually a park), and makes up a list
of clues which is distributed to the members. Then an outing is planned
wherein the members take pictures of what they believe most perfectly
represent the clues. The winners are given prizes such as rolls of
film. Our last field trip was to an auto wrecking yard and, although it
is hard to believe, was the field trip that had the most attendance
ever.
Our meetings are held twice a month with the first meeting being photo
and slide judging with a critique thrown in. (Every other month a topic
for shooting is assigned). The second meeting of the month is a
workshop or program of some sort. This is also the time we can bring
our prints or slide which didn't quite make it to find out what went
wrong. At one workshop, our program chairman cut out pictures from the
National Geographic magazine and mounted them. Then, without our being
told where they were from, we judged and critiqued them. Needless to
say, many of the shots didn't rank very high.
This time last year we contacted three camera clubs in Australia and
have done slide exchanges with them. In May, a photo club member and
his wife from Sydney, Australia came for a visit. We enjoyed having
them and one of our members and his wife are planning a visit to
Sydney. It was also interesting having E-mail contacts to get first
hand information when their countryside was burning up from the drought
and the subsequent fires they were having.

point (we love seeing slides of other parts of the world), please let us
know.
