I have recently acquired a 1980 Lake Placid commemoration model of the F1n (not F1n New). The manual says that the mirror has a "shock absorbing mechanism", and all the edges of the mirror-box where the mirror swings up against are clear, clean grey metal, with not a foam strip in sight - nor any signs that there ever was any that might have perished or gone tacky. The mirror appears and sounds as though operating well without undue noise or impact shock, but all the web postings I read say "get your mirror foam renewed". Can anyone advise me on this please. Canon themselves say that they have no remaining product knowledge on this model to help me with!! Thanks.2. From : aydin erel (aydin@8sanat.com)

Hi, I think this site is great, and I really enjoy it. I must, however, make a quick posting on two Canon F1 serial numbers:
Canon F1n No. 565444
Canon F1 New No. 230586 (AE finder)
I bought the first one when I was in my teens, and recently had the battery upgrade done. The second one (F1 New) was a purchase I did less than a year ago - it tell you what kind of a fan I am of the line if I invested US$ 400+ in another manual focus body and drive.
Alas, both cameras where stolen in Europe while on a trip to India in December 2006. If anyone comes across these items - they are hot! Please email me with any info - there is a reward out for finding them.
The F1 New was accompanied by an AE Power Winder FN serial no 151804, and a newer-style FD one-touch zoom 35-105 Macro No 108487. The older F1 had a FD breech lock FD 28mm 2.8 SC No 221093.
Again, I would love to recover these items.
Thanks!4. From : MARK POWELL (markp1178@comcast.net)

I have two F1N-AEs & have been trying to find cases for them to protect their still near-mint bodies. Has anyone any idea of where I could find suitable cases, or know of someone who could fabricate them?
Thanks for any help!6. From : Otto Schaefer (moberle2002@yahoo.de)

Hi all, I found an old Waist Level Finder for my F1n. It's the normal one not the 6x. But I'm not sure whether it is OK, because the only optical element ist the builtin fliup-up magnifier. As I remember there should be a lens in the lower part of the finder. Can anybody give me an answer on this?
Thanks a lot, Otto

Greetings,
I have been an addicted Canon FD user since the purchase of my first F-1 in 1973, and recently purchased a near mint version of the new F-1, with motor drive, speed finder, Eye-Level Finder FN, AE Finder FN and 5 focusing screens.
This will be an exciting adventure to learn how to fully use this A-1 X F-1 hybrid, and I am certain to have questions for those of you who are intimate with its utility and function.
Would someone kindly acknowledge if this New F-1 dedicated forum is active? It would be an exceptional resource to shorten the learning curve.
Thank you.9. From : Charlie (vulcan76@aol.com)

I have a Canon F1n 1984 Olympic Edition w/AE finder and AE motor drive FN, 2 focusing screens,(spot and center-weighted) All Canon 50mm 1.8 with the 84 Olympic lens cap, 28mm, 100mm, 70-210mm macro, 35-105mm macro. I also have an AE-1 body. There's not a scratch or wear mark on any of these items. They are all mint. Still have the owners manual too. I didn't use this camera much at all. Maybe 50 rolls shot through it. The AE-1 has only had 2 rolls shot through it. I also have a Sunpak 522 off camera flash with bracket and omni-bounce diffuser. I am considering selling these items since I never use them. I bought them all new except for the 28mm and the 35-105mm but they are mint also. Anyone interested e-mail me.10. Please sell me one of those beauties! I'm sick and tired of this digital-age blind madness of "how many megapixels does it have?" I'm selling my digicam and returning on film so any advice on buying/having the F1 and etc. would be nice along with the offers! (I'm living in Finland right now)
