Hi
I was wondering if I might get some help on pricing to sell a Cannon F1 with 3 different lenses and flash pack and case. I am trying to sell it for a widow who's husband was a commercial photographer in the Pittsburgh area. Would like to get a fair price for it.

Does anyone out there know of a good source for Canon F1N parts. There seems to be lots of A series spare parts out there but very few sources for this workhorse camera. It seems odd to me considering that the last version of the F1 had a 10 year production run. I have one with a cracked film transport gear (or sprocket) and I really want to get it repaired. Comments are welcomed. Thanks. Mark5. From : Robert Glenn Middleton (the_redd_groyne@hotmail.co.uk)

In no way can one describe Canon equipment marked 'US Navy', or with any other military markings as being 'limited edition'. Most of the equipment is no different to the normal production runs. However one should be aware that a number of FD lenses were produced with their focus pegged at infinity, in appearance they look no different to their focusing brethren. I guess they were intended for use by aircrew for 'air to air' photography of suspicious aircraft in national airspace, or general aerial photography. I have 85/f1.8, 100/f2.8 and 200/2.8, all purchased off eBay and described as faulty/jammed by the seller!
Recent reports in the UK photographic press indicates the NASA has ordered a number of Nikon dslr kits. Seems the only difference in specification is,'the equipment will have to be lubricated with NASA approve products'.6. From : JPmes (nomail@private.com)

The http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/hardwares/classics/canonf1n/USnavy/index.htm US Navy version of the Canon New F-1 doesn't seemed to be a specific Limited edition. I guess most of the auctioned US Navy version simply has a imprinted mark or US NAVY (Like property of the US Navy) kind of markings. Anyway, many people who had acquired them had teated them as limited edition but I doubt it has extraordinary property or collectible value over the standard versions. But some are modified which are more rare in quantity which I think justifies as collectibles.7. From : Antony Nithy (nithy_g@hotmail.com)

Many thanks to Richard Hilber Tirol for posting the "life saver" fo F1 N users. I could ask one of the trusted Canon technician to fix my camera now. He couldn't help me as he lost his F1 N repair manual!
Very many thanks to Kakaman for posting the message as well.
Hope both of you get this message.

Here is a life saver for New F-1 owners: A tedious full scanned works of the CVanon New F-1 Service Manual for Canon New F-1 (13.4MB PDF file) was supplied by Richard Hilber Tirol / . A link has been added to download the file at the main index page:
http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/hardwares/classics/canonf1n/index.htm
I know how tedious can I be to prepare this service manual. Please send a note of thank to Richard after downloading.9. From : Michael Comerford (mikecomerford@utvinternet.ie)

Hi,
Can anyone please help me date my F-1 body. The highest ASA setting is 1600, the serial number is 243664 and the code in the film chamber is P137. I think this indicates it was made in 1975.
Whilst the camera is in excellent condition, the shutter release has jammed. It has released a couple of times on the timer. As I have no manual, have I got a setting wrong or do I need to get the unit serviced.
Thanks in advance for any help. If you want to email me, please change my email address from .ie to .com.
Regards,
Michael.

Josh, take the battery out (and remove any drives) and try to see if you can trip the shutter.
If you can ... you should be able to use the winding lever.
