Photography in Malaysia Community Section: |
The respective Message Boards are some of the HARDEST hit section of the PIM site, if at any one time, the traffic is high - the table/content may take a while to load the data, just be patience. If it stalls, just click on the 'Reload' or 'Refresh' button on your browser menu once to re-attempt. Thank you.Share common knowledge & exchanging experience with your views on photography. I know the original Free Trade Zone section may has some restriction imposed on its content (only Buy/Sell Stuffs), but as requests are pouring in to create another section for other subjects other than buy/disposal of equipments, so, as much as I can offer, I have used the template for other existing message boards to create another section for all of you to use. As this is a non-profitable section, so I didn't ask our programming staffs to creste a dedicated thread-like format. I am not sure if this has served its purpose but nevertheless, it is a channel for all of you to utilise to express other thoughts on photography-related issues. A few volunteers have been appointed to edit the content as it requires. You may make use of this convenience here to present your own views. Enjoy.
This site is specifically created for common usage on photographic issues. Please don't mail me other than constructive suggestions or rectifying mistakes found in this site, thank you. Since this is a non-profitable resource site - The developer of this site reserves the rights to censor or delete any inappropriate, unrelated, misleading or excessively hostile messages posted herein. If your intention is to dispose your photographic equipment(s) or its accompanying accessories or looking for a used model or any of its system components, please use the ORIGINAL FTZ section with a higher volume of traffic Free Trade Zone site instead. The Photography In Malaysia has no Guestbook on its own, because it is an integral part of the MIR site. But if you want to leave a note on your experience visiting this site, you may use the MIR's Guestbook at another new window by clicking on the Guestbook Link.

Kakaman, it is alright. Threaded format has its advantage as well as negative aspect. One thing that I don't like is whenver I click on a sub-thread, all I get may be a stupid one-line kind of answer. Some may be good inside, but you need to mine all the threaded answers but most of the times, you may be just get nothing after all the wasteful clicks (good for page-view counts..haha ).

Dear Adrian, thanks for the constructive feedback. I have forwarded your URL to my staffs to take a look (but I know everyone is fully tied-up with commercial assignments). I will go through the site on my own to pick up some basic from there as well. Frankly, sandwiches between business development for MIR as well as maintaining constant site development for PIM, I find little time on other things. For an example, I still have a few outstanding sites which is overdue for some time (that is more important to me as I hate doing half-baked resource-site construction). One of them is the Canon EOS-1n see: http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/hardwares/classics/eos/EOS-1n/index.htm
So, this board may also be regarded as half-bake in terms of functionality but at least it serves its basic purpose at a starting point. So, let me finish some of the "priorities" first. In the mean time, I also need to observe how is the responses (+ the practical aspect) for this kind of forum. Once again, Adrian, a big thanks.

Hi, on your concerns about a PHP, I can understand the issues you face with a new system and message board. However I can assure you that you don't really need to learn much about PHP in order to implement the PHPBB system.
The default PHPBB system is in "ready to install" format - you don't need to do any PHP coding in order to set it up.
Just take a look at www.phpbb.com to see if it's worth your time.

Yes, this is exactly what we need in Malaysia. An active English-medium photography forum. Since there will be so many topics from different kinds of photographers, may I suggest we have something like a PHP Bulletin Board (PHPBB). At least we can sort out discussions in a more organised manner. Thanks! Cheers! Hardy

I am testing to see if this kind of forum works here. I don't like to stress my staff force to provide me a thread-like forum format, so, I just tried to replicate & modify an existing message board for this purpose (man at 50, please don't ask me to learn more complicated php stuffs... so, tolong 2.. this bare basic format has already cost me four hours to make this simple MB works). But I do hope everyone can make good use of it as well as restraint on the input. Try avoid posting sensitive topic(s) which might call in unnecessary responses from other concerned parties. In an ideal format, I would like to view the posted content prior to publish it, but as much as I want to give freedom of expression in opinion. So, that format is reserved only if this section has gone out of control in day to day content management. So, in the mean time, just enjoy with what I can offer here right now. Thank You.
Sorry for not publishing my email publicly. For urgent matters or any viable potential web business prospect for MIR (hehe..) just use a little bit of imagination, adds a leofoo in front of MIR.com.my. Enjoy.
