a internal view shot from a dusty moon roff of my car on Petronas Twin Towers - KLCC from the highway

A car's moon roof, I should say. (Sun roof can be opened, moon roof can open half way). I think my car needs a good wash, hehe ..

Taking pictures requires a good mood. When you are not in the right frame of mind, just forget about it. However, when situation requires you to act, I would suggest you to think of a topic which is easier to start. Over a late evening, a few Chinese students came to my office and ask if I can accompanying them to shoot some pictures of KLCC Petronas Twin Towers next door as the earlier attempt they made were quite bad, reluctantly, I went with them with my portable. Ideally, if it had been an hour or so, the sky will be blue but usually the sky after 7.30 p.m. had turned too dark for my comfort as it was already 8.30 p.m.; so I suggested to them by using the natural surrounding to shoot rather than shooting plain, static photos of Twin Towers. "Framed the subject" is the word. Here are some resulting photos of the KLCC / Petronas Twin Towers. There are not great pictures, but only serves to provide a lead on HOW-TO next time.

Framing a photo of Petronas Twin Towers and KLCC with the spot light

Framing a photo of Petronas Twin Towers and KLCC with the facilities

Framing a photo of Petronas Twin Towers and KLCC with the surrounding vegetation

Other possibilities: Spot light, facility (like this pedestrian stand) and even the trees or others can be a good supplementary factor for photo composition. (203k / 216k / 200k Jpeg)

Petronas Twin Towers KLCC and KL Towers behind a crop / trees

The trees and vegetation is the KLCC / Petronas Twin Towers public park area was works of a great, late Brazilian landscape artist (it was his last project). He has spent more than 3 years running around Peninsular and East Malaysia in identifying what species would be planted here. The natural surrounding of these plants and trees also indirectly offer a frame if you find they help in making photos of Petronas Twin Towers a little abnormal from the normal shots.

Jalan Ampang, night street view with fluorescent light source and tungsten lighting

The ever busy Jalan Ampang where KLCC and Petronas Twin Towers locates.

A candid shot of a piar of lovers at the sky bridge at Petronas Twin Towers, KLCC
Sorry, this photo illustrates a little motion The exposure is 1/2 second. but I guess the pose was good. I have quite a few others with KLCC/ Petronas Twin Towers in a clearer backdrop but lacks the good compositional element of this one. Errrr ... it is quite offending to take candid shot such as this, be careful.

Picture of clear blue sy of Petronas Twin Towers, KLCC a day BEFORE the haze The haze covering the Petronas Twin Towers and KLCC area

A heavenly place was made into a Hell in a day.

The two pictures here were taken in JUST a DIFFERENCE within one DAY ! The left of the Petronas Twin Towers (KLCC) with a crystal blue sky was taken at noon, on the 7th of October, 2006; the right was on at the same time on the 8th of October, 2006. What was happening ? well ... Courtesy of a dense HAZE from our neighboring Indonesia with practice of open burning. This scenario has been on for the last century and has been affecting ASEAM countries like Malaysia, Singapore, southern Philippines and as far as Thailand. This has not only affecting health of millions but also resulting in deterioting industrial and tourism industry activities greatly. All our Indonesian government can do each year is : The MONSOON rain will definitely come, ONE DAY (to put out the flames)...@$#^@#(!@(~~~!! but this year was the first year officially the President of Indonesian openly apologized in advance to the neighbors if it ever occurred again in this year. Previously, official denial was the practice but forgetting modern geological science has satellite pictures to show the where are hot spots on open burning in Indonesia. This has really made us mad...neither the international comunity has offered any assistance. PICTURES of Indonesian HAZE ATTACK 1998 (worst, when it combines with the Asian financial Crises); Photo of 2005 state of Haze came from Indonesia. (230k / 216k Jpeg)
