Borneo Dimension [design statement]

GREETING

'Selamat Datai' + 'Welcome' to you. 'Kia Ora' especially for the visitors from New Zealand. Hi! my name is Louis Ringah Kanyan. I'm glad to welcome you to the 'Borneo Dimension'-the latest version homepage and online porfolio of mine. Origionally, I come from Bintulu Division in the State of Sarawak, Malaysia.

I make a living as a web designer. Currently I work in Kuala Lumpur at the MIR Communication [internet resources company]. This profession is the first one for me right after graduating from Wanganui Polytechnic School of Design, New Zealand-July 1997. I consider myself as quite a new comer for this line [internet for the real world]. However, I've been introduced as well as involved with the internet world [technology] since 1995.

Design+Style+Influences. Shall never forget my old [the first] design school-KSSR, MARA Institute of Technology in Shah Alam, Malaysia; where I gained a strong foundation of art and design. As an individu Dayak (Iban-formally known as Sea Dayak), I believe that dayak's soul and value of art has already here inside of me naturally. Internationally, I'm quite impressed with Bauhaus's design, as well as I like a new expression publication, Raygun for instance. I like Bauhaus design because it concern to the grid and systematical elements. Raygun is free expression but still smartly organised, alternative but still 'nice' to see+listen+read.

DESIGN STATEMENT

Unity is one of the great principle of design. In varies design fields, the unity in concept, repeatation, collaboration and consistance are the essence of the good design. The idea how to conveys information through print media and electronic media is not much difference.

The book still need to be presented in the consistance way. The Time magazine, National Geography, Rolling Stone and Life magazine are some good examples using the principle of unity (consistance and unique in identity). How about the principle of unity for the internet publication? Unity, the using of element of design such as unity in colors, textures, shapes and forms. All these elements are srongly able to creates concept and mood of the site.

WWW site on the line nowaday is demanding more organic elements for the interface design (dynamic web site). More and more users realised the important of using and putting some images and organic shapes on the homepage. Bandwidth is not a major restriction to enjoy the graphical site on the internet today since more and more users are using faster modem. Every site/homepage compete with each other in gain more attention from the internet surfer out there. How to make your site popular? How to get viewers' attention to keep visiting your site? Smart design concept is make worth for both information's owners and their viewers. Make every cent worthy...never dispointed at the first visit.

DESIGN PHILOSOPHY

Effective design is not just a matter or something nice to look at, but how it will be communicated successfully.
