Reclining Buddha, YU FO SI, Shanghai
Earlier, I did mentioned the monk who
had helped in establishing the temple location first by leaving two of his five Buddha
figures collection at Shanghai, where one was the beautifully crafted White Jade
Buddha and the other statue is actually a Reclining Buddha. Unlike the White Jade
Buddha, the Reclining Buddha at YUFOSI as compare, is NOT that sizable in both form
and size. The placement of this statue is located at another section, it is located
at the back portion, just above the crowded souvenir shops area, where there is a
staircase leading you to upstairs. The mid-size Jade Buddha statue is actually cased
inside a glass box. Again, photographing of the Buddha is also prohibited here, but
I had managed to overcame the barrier by sweet talking to some ladies who took charge
here at duties. This original jade recliningreclining Buddha measures barely 2 feet
long only. I was told it was also crafted from a single piece of jade but the coloring
of the jade is leaning towards with significant yellowish tint. Here I can only show
you the facial section as the other full frame picture has a lot of reflection from
the cased glass, which totally spoilt my mood after leaving the temple and realizing
the mistake while I was already in the cab. &#($U@($(!!
