Jointly developed with French film, La Piro technique and sold under the name of Calypso. The name Nikonos 1 was actually used after Nippon Kogaku acquired from the French. Some early models may bear with Calypso/Nikkor in the European market.

Questions, issues & Answer(s)
A slight improved version from the original Nikonos 1. most significant is the direct flash connection underwater or used with an adapter out of water. Some interchangeable UW-Nikkor introduced during this era came with improved DOF scales. Some models sold in European market may still bear the name Calypso. The camera adopted the modular design of the early Nikon SLR type where you can removed the entire external shell from inside. But similar to the Nikonos 1, model II was still a meter less camera. This model was eventually discontinued in 1975.

Questions, issues & Answer(s)
The last of the meterless Nikonos model but widely acknowledged as the best among the early batches of the Nikonos. The shutter speed range retained from 1/30 sec to 1/500 with Bulb setting and sync at 1/60 sec. Slightly heavier (790g) due to enlarged dimension. Improvement includes a revised multifunction film advance lever, rewind crank, shutter speed selector and added frame lines for 35/80mm inside the finder. Serial number may have been started from 310xxx and discontinued in 1980.
