I have a Minolta 7000 A/F Camera. I have been having trouble with the little pin
that connects to each lens for the auto focus feature. When I change lenses the little
pin doesn't pop back up. I use the end of a pen to manually spring it back into position.
Can anybody recommend a better way to fix this? I am an amateur photographer and
I rely on the auto focus feature. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also when
I bought my camera I didn't get a manual. Any ideas on where I can get one? Thanks.

but the AutoWinder "D" has bit the dust. Power light comes on, but no advance.
Internal motor works fine, have had it apart and tested, so prob is likely circuit
board. Am looking for a working D series winder or a place to have mine repaired.

With the help ofMark Wasmer of Milwaukee,
Wisconsin,USA, I have used what he has mailed over to create a new section onan original product brouche of the Minolta XK around 1974-1975.
If you find it useful, you guys should send a thank-you note to Mark for his effort.
I have retouched all the scannned images to 'make' them look better on the webpages,
however, the PDF file is a little disappointing as I can't reduced the file size
any further for easier downloading (1.3MB). If you have problem downloading it, mail
me or Mark and we have mail you a copy by email - A kind reminder again, it is a
1.3MB file, alternatively, you can try to live with various smaller Jpeg files in
the HTML format. Cheers !

Here's a good one! In the Minolta System Manual, the author -- Joe Cooper -- discusses
and shows a match-needle head for the XK. This is NOT the AE, nor the AES finder.
Nor is it any of the others -- Plain, High mag, Waist-level. It's very similar to
the AE, but with no auto feature. Has anyone actually seen this finder or is it just
a prototype?

I received a minolta xd-11 for my christmas 1980/-81 (not sure of exact year). from
my wife. The camera has been around the world with me. I first noticed the problem
with the sutter release in 1986. I attempted to take a picture. I pushed the sutter
release and nothing happened. I tried advancing the film.. thinking I had already
exposed that section of film but it would not advasnce.. I despiration and being
in Granada, Spain at the home of Don Quiota I was desperate. So I attempted to take
several actions ...nothing. Then a thought struck me try a timer release.. IT WORKED.
After several other photos I tried the normal methods and everything was back to
normal. so I thought... The problem turned out to be intermittent and persists to
this day.. Where to send it I don't have a lot of faith in local shops... I was in
Florance Italy and saw an individual with an xd-11 and struck up a conversation with
him... He was living in Germany and had a similiar problem. He told me, " I
took it to a LICA shop and they replaced a module/PC board with an up date LEICA
board and the problem was solved... Have you ever heard of this problem before and
what wasd your or their solution, where do you send it etc

IF you require one copy, you may try commercial outlet like http://www.craigcamera.com/
and ask the owner Mr John Craig how much would it cost you. It should be around US15-00

you should consider print it out in a hard copy instead, after all, it is free: http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/hardwares/classics/minoltaxd711/basicimages/index.htm

From
Alastair Rogers (Mon Nov 1 20:18:41 1999 ):
I'm delighted to see some recognition at last for the venerable Minolta XK. I bought
one in Canada in the late 1970s in preference to the Nikon, Canon or Pentax offerings
of the time because I'd used a Mintolta SRT 101 for many years as a photo-journalist
and found its handling, build quality and optics more than up to the job. The XK
lived up to my expections and I must have run off thousands of exposures, mainly
B&W, to publiction standards. By the time I had problems (the meter began to
short out and send the needle hurtling off the top of the scale -- possible because
of years of exposure to salty, moist air on the coast), Minolta had decided to withdraw
support for the model, despite selling it as a professional camera, with the long-term
support you would think this would imply. Eventually, I bought a parts camera from
Thompson Photo Products in Knoxville, Tennessee, of all places, and cobbled the two
XKs together. The hybrid camera gives me top-of-the-line pictures. Exposure is spot-on
(even without the wonders of matrix metering) and the lenses I use most often (an
MC Rokkor f.4 50mm, Vivitar 28mm f2.5 and Vivitar 85-205 f3.8 macro zoon) still give
professional results almost every time. The only exposure problems I have are when
I try to second-quess the meter. If any of your readers find a reasonably priced
XK with all the functions working, I'd advise them to buy it. Equivalent performance,
spec and solidity in a modern camera would cost them dearly. There's no auto-focus,
of course, but I'd be surprised if any of the present popular systems, usually sold
with a slow zoom lens, could cut the mustard in the sort of low-light situations
that I enjoy capturing. And in brighter conditions, an f1.4 manual snaps into focus
as quickly as you could want. Also, when was the last time the main subect for focusing
purposes was in the centre of your frame? Best of luck with your website. Bring back
the XK, I say. - Aberdeen, Scotland -

HELP I am a Minolta fan and own many of the manual focus cameras including the XD-11

intimidating and I am a little nervous about getting it too far apart. Does anyone
know how/where I can decock the shutter/mirror assemblies? This may have just been
a fluke and I am hoping it will return to normal operation again. I tried manually

hoping there is a simple fix or easy access to the sutter curtain releases. Any help
