The standard DP-20 (high eyed point at 0.7 magnification) provides the virtually a 100% coverage of the entire picture frame. The DP-20 is the only prism that provide three metering modes in Matrix, center-weighted and spot metering. The Action Finder DA-20 provides two modes in center-weighted and spot metering (Matrix is not possible); while the waist level and 6X magnification finder can only provide Spot metering.
Note: The F4's SPD for TTL flash control and the Spot sensor are incorporated in the Nikon F4's body, this means Spot metering is available with any of the interchangeable viewfinders. The DP-20 multi-meter prism has a pair of matrix sensor locate at each side of the eyepiece to provide matrix metering or center-weighted type. However, the Action Finder is not provided with Matrix metering, only center weighted and spot metering is posssible.
The F4 viewfinder has a full information display that provide key information such as metering pattern used, exposure control mode, shutter speed and exposure compensation scales. A frame counter is also included. Further AE lock indicator, aperture direct readout (ADR) and focus indicators, exposure compensation mark and flash ready light are also provided.
