I have a FT2 and would like to get a tune up and perhaps a new matte screen, can anyone recommend a good place in Southern California to take my camera too? Thanks Rick

  2. From Arto (Tue Sep 28 18:35:46 1999 ):
I just bought a beautifull Nikkormat FTn with 85/1,8 lens (the previous similar set was stolen!). The camera has serial number FT 3955064. I wonder how could I find out the year/month it was made?

  5. From Alexander (Mon Sep 27 09:11:50 1999 ):
Bonjour from Montreal: I discovered this web site while surfing the net looking for photo and camera sites. I have owned and used several Nikon cameras over the years. My first purchase was a Nikkormat FS sometime in 1967. This Nikon camera has served me well in travels all over the world. Built like a tank and its weight is heavy, but its very stable camera and takes great pictures. While it has no metering, I found it a great camera because it made me work hard at taking good pictures. Love Nikon cameras.

  6. From Debbie Cramer (Wed Sep 22 10:01:31 1999 ):
I recently "lucked out" at a thrift store in Alaska and bought a FT2 Nikkormat. It has a 50mm lens but I see that this type (or age) of camera has a coupling pin and slotted prong on the aperture ring. I would like to get other lenses for this camera but think this may be a problem. Must I get only older Nikkor lenses? What other brands will fit this camera? Any one know what kind of prices I will be paying? Would like all the info you might give. The camera and lens was purchased for $20 and works great! So, I have money to spare for lenses. I think this is a lucky find.

  7. From Bill Jones (Tue Sep 14 04:46:39 1999 ):
Hi everyone, I'm searching for a Nikkormat ELW Service/Repair/Part List Manual. Anyone have a lead on this item?

  8. From Boe (Sat Sep 11 09:03:52 1999 ):
I have what I believe is a FTn (it says FT by the serial number amd has a N by the window next to the rewind knob) and is identical to the photos I have in the FTn section. It says Nikomat on it. I was told there was a problem with it. The only thing that I notice is that the meter is always WAY up in the view finder. Is this a problem? Also, it doesn't have a flash, what would be a good recomendation for it? Is there anywhere I can get a manual and find out the age (the serial number is 3619028). It only has one lens: Nikor-S Auto 1:1.4 f=50mm Nippon Kogaku No. 653278. What would be a good 2nd lens? Thanks in advance! Boe (this is our 1st foray into serious photography and my wife would like to setup a small darkroom).

  9. From Jenny Watkins (Thu Sep 9 02:19:50 1999 ):
I believe I have a Nikon Nikkormat FTn. Can anyone tell me how to be sure? Thanks!

  10. From Jim Stampher (Sun Sep 5 04:00:35 1999 ):
I purchased a nikkormatF3 sn 7414578 in thailand in 1969. Was this camera truly manufactured in 1967? Anyway I have carried this camera all over the world. It still takes great pictures and slides. I have added a tamron 24 mm wide angle lense and a sun 70 mm to 280 mm(?) lens. Since it is not an automatic camera it takes me a while longer but the pictures still come marvelous.

  11. From Pedro (Fri Sep 3 09:49:12 1999 ):
My father recently gave me a Nikkormart camera, and I have no Idea what model it is, if anybody could help, I would be grateful.

  12. From Ken Walsh (Wed Sep 1 13:24:36 1999 ):
Since the mid 70s, I've had the pleasure of owning a Nikkor 135 mm 3.5 lens. Recently, I've noticed some type of growth on the inside of the glass. I've seen comments on fungus in used lens ads. Is this my problem? If so, how can it be resolved? Thanks, Ken.......

  13. From G. Chen (Wed Sep 1 04:45:05 1999 ):
Has anyone heard of the following lens: Lens maker: Sun Opt. (Japan) Lens: 80 - 240 mm F4 (Filter size 67 mm) mount: Nikon NON-AI Any additional information and/or remarks/comments on this lens will be deeply appreciated. Thanks!

  16. From Jeremy Chandler (Wed Aug 18 00:29:09 1999 ):
To whom it may concern: Hello my name is Jeremy Chandler I am 17 years old and I have a big problem with a Nikon camera. Recently I went on a trip with my dad out west. On this trip I used his old Nikkormat EL camera with old lenses that are manual, unlike today's modern electronic lenses. While I was driving on a shift on the way back home I forgot that a lens (I think 52mm zoom) was in its carrying case on the floor. Well anyways to make a long story short the lens was probably knocked out at a gas stop unoticed and is gone. I haven't told him yet for fear that he will be very deeply upset and saddened that I have lost what is probably an antique and maybe irreplaceable lens. I am willing to pay any price that my bank account can hold up to, to restore this lost lens. If anyone at Nikon can help me or knows of any antique place that can please send me information I'm desperate! Sincerely, Jeremy Chandler

  17. From Damon (Thu Aug 12 02:19:22 1999 ):
I'm want to start getting into photography and I heard that Nikon Cameras are really reliable and handy to have. I would appreciate any suggestions on what camera(s) best fits me that's not to pricey.

I have lost the battery cover to my FTn Nikkormat- any ideas??

  20. From Bill Farley (Tue Aug 3 10:36:24 1999 ):
After a long hiatus from photography,I find that my eyes are not what they used to be.I am looking for a source that can provide me with a -4 diopter corrective eyepiece for my EL,my Ft2 and my F2 I understand that the eyepiece is the same thread for all three cameras.Any leads would be greatly appreciated and If I am incorrect in the technical assumptions your knowledge would be extremely helpful. Thanks.

  21. From Dan (Fri Jul 30 00:48:36 1999 ):
I have a Nikkormat FTn and I was wondering what battery I can use in it?

  22. From JWoods (Thu Jul 29 10:24:36 1999 ):
TO: JT - Yes, the Nikkormat FTN can accept any AI or AI-S lenses - Provided the lens has the meter coupling shoe (Rabbit Ears) atop the aperture ring. However, the E series lenses (AIS and virtually ALL AF Nikkors are of same nature) has no meter coupling shoe anymore (Theoretically, you can add one - but not viable) for you to use on your old non-AI bodies and retaining the metering function.

  23. From JT (Thu Jul 29 04:41:05 1999 ):
I have had a Nikkormat FTN for several years, using non-ai lens', and have often wondered if this camera would accept ai lens', as well. The literature I've read, appears to be contradictory. I am particularly fond of the Nikon 'e' series, since they appear to provide the best glass for the price.

  24. From Andy (Sat Jul 17 03:56:18 1999 ):
Do I may have a problem with the meter in my Nikomat FTn? I am using the 50mm f2 lens that must have come with the body originally. I've noticed that if I use a 400 ASA film, then the meter appears to siwtch off at 1/8 sec at f2, 1/4 sec at f2.8, 1/2 sec at f4 and so on. If I use a 200 ASA film then the meter switches off at 1/4 sec at f2, 1/2 sec at f2.8 and so on. Is this bizzare behaviour O.K. or is there something wrong with my Nikomat? I hope someone can shed some light as I'm a little worried.

  25. From Jim (Mon Jul 5 20:28:49 1999 ):
I have purchased an Nikkormat EL and need a new case, Where can I purchase one?

  26. From Bill Dangerfield (Sat Jul 3 23:21:49 1999 ):
We have an old Nikkormat EL. Therte seems to be a short in the electronic circuitry. The battery goes dead after a fgew hours, whether the camera is in use or not. Can anyone provide a nearby contact address/phone number for authorized repair of this model? We live in Stavanger, Norway. Regards, Bill Dangerfield

  27. From Richard (Wed Jun 9 09:32:53 1999 ):
Looking for case for EL2. Does anyone know if another model Nikon case will work. Thanks.

  28. From Tom A. (Wed Jun 9 01:05:24 1999 ):
In regards to replacement for the mercury batteries, I contacted Nikon Technical Sevice USA (1-800-645-6687). They're best recommendation (and not a perfect one)is to use a PX 625A battery, readily available at most US stores with a camera department. The folks at Nikon don't guarantee results. Voltage of a mercury battery is stable over time and then drops suddenly. Alkalines slowly decrease with use.

  29. From Michael Sawaya (Mon Jun 7 05:43:55 1999 ):
Does anyone have operating instructions for Nikon SB10 speedlight? There is a 3 position front switch with red and blue scales. Could anyone help me with proper operation. It seems to work ok, but I have not used it in many years.

But I don't think I can construct the remaining two models in the FT and the FS - but I do hope someone out there can do it. I still have many other development works to finish. I am so sorry...

I bought a Nikon Nikkormat camera in a flea market for $30.00 dollars and it works beautifully, however I'am not a professional photagrapher and I would really like an instructional manual on how to set all the shutters and stuff on the camera so that I can continue to take nice pitures.
