The reclining Buddha Image at Wat MekPrasit, A siamese Thai Buddhist Temple in Ipon City, Perak, Malaysia

Wat Mek Prasit is an old temple. after 30 years as care taker, I can feel Phra Acharn Charli is short of ideas (sorry). I would think Temple management committee requires some revamped works to do. I brought a Chinese tourist there during the last visit and he was equally amazed. On its own, Wat Mek Prasit has a few things that shine - I would think the hosting of hundreds of Buddha images was great and presents some favorable spot to call in tourists as in Ipoh, other than the cave temples, the heritage buildings like train station, a boring Carrie's Castle tour, food/fruits/local dishes and tin dredging tour - there ain't much spots to act as tourist attraction. If I relates it as a business on tour promotion, it requires both in cash injection by local government (tourism board, in particular) as well as combining generosity of volunteered devotees or followers. It is such a sad state that the previous, late Abbot has surrendered a few rare pictures of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej visit to this temple during his youthful days at the throne back to Padang Besar, if not, it could add some spice for the temple's history. How old is this temple, not even the current Abbot knows about it as prior to his appointment some few decades ago, there are at least 5 or more appointment. Personally, I would like to see this temple giving a face lift and added with other images. It is still a special spot - other than just being a Buddhist temple, it showcases a mix of a strong of Indian and Siamese flavor in its construction, decoration and culture.
