Telephoto Lenses

Canon telephoto lenses bring distant subjects right up close. These sharp lenses compressed the space in front of and behind the main subject, making everything seem much closer together. With focal lengths from 85mm to 300mm, Canon's superb telephotos are specifically designed for photography of especially difficult subjects. Telephoto lenses have a narrower angle of view and shallow depth-of-field. They produce flattened perspective which makes them useful in portrait photography. They have high resolving power to keep the image perfectly sharp from the center all the way out to the edges of the frame. And because Canon telephotos are treated with the unique Super Spectra coating, chromatic aberration and astigmatism are reduced to an absolute minimum.

Canon Lens FD 85mm f/1.2 S.S.C. Aspherical

This is the fastest 85mm lens currently available in the market and essentially a FD 85mm f1.2 'L' lens at its infantry stage (the equivalent Canon 85mm f/1.2L was probably introduced in 1980) . As the latest success in Canon's revolutionary development of the aspherical lens concept, this lens occupies a particularly high respect among the lens manufacturing community.

The incorporation of an aspherical element in its design results in the virtual elimination of flare, from a bright f/1.2 to a stopped-down f/16. Especially at full aperture opening, sharpness and contrast to the picture is remarkable compared to spherical lenses.

The exclusive Canon Floating System ensures high performance even at the close focusing distance. Along with the elimination of flare at the maximum lens opening, equal effort was placed with successful results in producing fine resolution of image at smaller apertures during daytime photography.

FD 85mm f/1.8 SSC

Canon Lens FD 85mm f/1.8 S.S.C

The FD 85mm f/1.8 S.S.C. is a telephoto lens with precise natural perspective. It is perfect for portraiture, when faithful reproduction of the subject is absolutely necessary. Canon's FD 85mm f/1.8 completely eliminates astigmatism and comatic aberration.

Color balance is excellent, with all ghost and flare suppressed by the use of Super Spectra multi-layer coating. To aid in handling, the FD 85mm f/1.2 is very short (57mm), approximately the size of a 50mm standard lens. Basic spec is the same with the FDn version except for the mount change, filter size of 55mm (newer uses 52mm); minimum aperture of f/22; focuses closer at 0.85m and weighs lighter at 350g.
