Hi I am looking for the lens' for the Canon T80 model, most notibly the AF zoom lens. E-mail me if you know where I can get this. Thanks John

  2. From Eric (Tue Aug 1 04:12:45 2000 ):
I recently purchased a T70 outfit from a friend. The outfit came with a Speedlite 277T flash. Is this unit usable with my older A-series cameras as well?

  3. From Reuben (Thu Jul 13 07:41:57 2000 ):
I just purchased a T-70 in great condition. Is it possible with the T-70 to take double exposures, because of the auto wind function I feel it may be difficult. The manual does not mention this feature. Also without the Command Back 70 can I take shots in 'bulb' mode for longer than 180 seconds. The manual mentions only 180 sec. Thanks!

  4. From Jobispo (Mon Jul 10 18:37:37 2000 ):
Where can I get a manual for my T80, as well as the Auto Focus lenses?

  5. From Kai Pin (Sat Jul 8 02:10:40 2000 ):
TO BIL CARTER: The flash is the Speedlite 277T. TO SCOOTERMAN: Try writing to Canon Inc of Japan for the srvice manual, since the T50 is a discontinued product, they might consider selling or giving you a copy of the service manual. TO BILL NUDGE: Yes, the manual focus Canons and the autofocus EOS series are not compatible. Canon do made available an FD-EOS Converter but this device is only applicable to FD lenses of 200mm and longer for use in the EOS bodies. If you still like the T70, you can still buy one from Keh Camera Broker at http://www.keh.com/

  6. From Bil Carter (Fri Jun 30 04:08:24 2000 ):
Can anyone tell me the make and model number of a dedicated flash for the Canon T-70? I had one several years ago, but I seem to have lost it. Thanks. Hopefully, I can find one on e-bay as soon as I find out the name of it.

  7. From ScooterMan (Sun Jun 25 22:13:46 2000 ):
I just purchased a T50, I'm searching for a repair manual to do preventive maintainance. Can anyone tell me where I might find one? I would also like to say, THANKS for a GREAT site. I've gotten some great information from this site in the last few days...Keep up the GOOD work!

  8. From Mike (Thu Jun 22 22:26:24 2000 ):
Canon T70 auto wind has become very slow. Had checked/cleaned by Wolf Camera 18 months ago when slow advance first started. Now, after 16-17 frames, film will no longer advance at all and must be rewound. Anyone with similar problems or any advice? Is this correctable or do I need to get a new camera body? Email mws54_09@yahoo.com

  9. From Bill Nudge (Mon Jun 19 04:59:46 2000 ):
I have a Canon model T70 ,which up till now has given me excellent service. Lately it has been giving me problems, so I was planning on buying a new body and using my old telephoto and wide angle lenses. Of course when I went to the camera shop they informed me that the old and the new are not interchangeable. Does anyone know if there is an adapter available to mke this possible?

  10. From Kai Pin (Wed Jun 14 21:47:07 2000 ):
MARK & KIMBERLY WALKER: For the Canon T50 instruction manual, try this site at: http://members.xoom.com/nemco/t50/contents.htm The Canon T50 is a Program AE-only 35mm SLR camera. The all black pictures mean that they are severely underexposed - not enough exposure for any image to register. There are several reasons for this problem: First, the lens' maximum aperture is not large enough to record scenes under low light conditions. Two, the camera's film speed setting is not correct - you could be using an ISO 100 film but the dial may have been incorrectly set at ISO 400, 800, 1600 or higher. Third, if flash was used, the Sunpak flash unit may not be working properly. The online instruction manual on the said URL supplied at the beginning of this message will be able to give both of you an insight of how to use the T50 effectively. Happy surfing and learning.

  11. From Bill (Tue Jun 13 23:50:29 2000 ):
My trusty T-70,which has given me many years of great service took the first day of our European and Asian trip to break down on me in Istanbul. When I brought it to a repair shop, I was told that the main circuit board and motor had to be replaced at a cost of $176 which seems like an awful lot of money (includes parts and labor). Does anyone know if this sounds like a reasonable amount?

  12. From Mark & Kimberly Walker (Tue Jun 13 09:50:34 2000 ):
We were given a canon T50 camera. Do not know a thing about it other than it has a Sunpak (thyristor) Auto 266D flash that of course can be attached, and a 200mm lens for it also. Now the problem is the camera takes great pictures as long as it is in the daylight. If it is dark, in the shade, or slightly dim the pictures turn out black. Went to the park took pictures of our daughter went great untill we took one under a tree. Then took pictures at a concert and her graduation, none turned out all were black. I know it has to be something simple like I said this was given to us and we know nothing about what we are doing as you can tell. Can someone please help and tell us what we need to change in order to take pictures in dim or dark areas such as outside and at a concert. Thank You!!

  13. From Kai Pin (Sat Jun 10 22:45:40 2000 ):
FOR ANYONE looking for spare parts and accessories for their T-series Canon cameras, there are two places which may have the stocks, and where you order online as well. They are Keh Camera Broker (USA) and JP Camera Repair Co (UK). Their respective URLs are: http://www.keh.com/ & http://members.aol.com/jpcameras/index.html

I am having trouble finding a source for vision corrective diopters for an antique but dear to the heart TL QL vintage '67 or '68. Any ideas on where to locate them would be apprecited.

  15. From Lex Jenkins (Fri Jun 9 10:44:07 2000 ):
Loose lens mount? Another tip for T70 and T50 owners. The metal ring can loosen, probably due to differing expansion/contraction rates between the metal ring and screws, and the plastic body. Keep an eye on the ring, tighten it carefully (meaning, fingertip pressure with a jeweler's screwdriver, not hamfisted brute force with a hammer drill) and all should be well. Guide the screwdriver carefully with your free hand to avoid jamming it through the flip-up mirror or shutter curtains.

  16. From Lex Jenkins (Fri Jun 9 10:35:50 2000 ):
A reminder to folks looking for the T70 owners manual. The proprietor of this site has already kindly provided a link to download your very own copy. Click on the T70 section (bottom of this page), then click on the self-explanatory link at the bottom of that section. Don't forget to read the pages here pertaining to the T70. It contains info not available in the owners manual. All I can add is that while the T70 lacks an aperture-priority mode with auto lenses, it will in fact work in aperture-priority mode with old fashioned preset lenses, making the T70 one of the world's best choices for fans of inexpensive, optically excellent and unfashionable presets (like myself). Simple press the "mode" button until the iris icon appears. Setting the aperture manually will automatically set the shutter speed. Couldn't be easier.

  19. From ÉóM(Donqui) (Wed May 31 00:30:41 2000 ):
Hello!I'm interested in Canon T-60, because My wife likes Csoina camera. She has used Cosina CS-3 for 20 years. In Japan, Cosina Co. begins to sell Bessa-R(RF camera) and many camera fans praise Cosina highly. But, because I likes a single-lens reflex camera, I pay attention to a single-lens reflex camera manufactured by Cosina. Though I usually used PENTAX MX and ME-Super preferably, I saw site (http://www.cameraguild.co.jp/cosinacamera/index.html)which influenced Japanese Cosina, and had interest in the camera manufactured by Cosina. I think that it is the camera that T-60 is very excellent. This camera is not on market in Japan to being sad.(T_T)

  20. From Vivian (Tue May 30 07:48:23 2000 ):
Does anyone know if I can buy a replacement part for the FOCUSSING SCREEN? (the matte screen with the split cell thingy that tells us if the photo is in focus). Mine has a scratch on it and as well, there is mold (?) on the other side of the screen where I can't reach. How it got there? I'll never know! I was trying to clean the mold off and scratched the screen. Boohoo. Has anyone had experience replacing the screen. I don't even know if its possible.

Hi everyone. I'm trying to find the original price (read: replacement value) of the Canon T70 (in US or Canadian $). Somebody "relieved" me of my trusty companion. Thanks for your help.

  36. From Mike Graham (Fri Mar 24 17:21:20 2000 ):
Canon T-70: Many thanks to Kai Pin and all those others who kindly replied to me! I fixed my battery door by using epoxy resin to stick the metal contact plate back to the door, and I managed to fabricate a new catch spring to replace the one that declared Independance on me and flew away... I feel sorry for the Canon engineers who did such a good job designing the T-70. In twenty years, there will be none of these otherwise very sympathetic cameras left alive. But I guess it won't matter, because there probably won't be any film for them either. We'll all have Though-Controlled Digital Image Collectors. These one-inch plastic squares will have the equivilent of 15-1200 zoom lenses, will hold several thousand images, and we'll be able to choose from the styles of up to a hundred famous photographers. All we'll have to do is point that little square in the general direction of a subject, think hard, and it'll decide what we want and crop the image accordingly. Best of all, the little squares will be fully recyclable! Canon: I bet you guys could make a fortune if you dug up the production molds and tools for the old F-1, and did a final run of 10,000 ! You'd sell every single one within a week. Then maybe the FTbN... MIKE

  37. From KaiPin (Thu Mar 23 22:09:34 2000 ):
FOR MIKE GRAHAM: It's nothing new but it is a sad state that even most Canon FD system owners already reaize such pity facts. Furthermore, such issues are not confined to Canon alone, other users from Minolta, Nikon and Pentax are facing similar problems as well. You are lucky that your old Nikkormat still work as some owners have found to their frustrations that company like Nikon is also not keen on servicing old models anymore. While most manufacturers will even encourage these owners to invest in the new AF bodies for commercial reasons. In any case, they would expect a consumer in buying and using any electronic camera, and be prepared to write it off after five years of continuous usage - if the camera can ot would last ten years or more, that's a bonus for the owner. It is a fact that in general, most electronic cameras don't have a high resale value left after five years, except for used dealers who can still make some profit selling them to those who are still keen on collecting and using "oldies". So, it is just a tale between million of cases among consumers versus manufacturers.. and usually, we suffer.

  38. From Mike Graham (Thu Mar 23 15:48:15 2000 ):
Canon T-70: I'm answering my own question, but all you Canon T- series owners might be interested in this. I tried to get a replacement battery door, and got in touch with Canon Germany. A few days later I got a polite letter back informing me that parts for these cameras are no longer made. Now, you wouldn't think it would be such a big deal for a company the size of Canon to keep a couple of hundred parts on hand for one of their more successful cameras of the mid eighties, would you? Wrong! So much for the longevity of these cameras - use for a few years, and toss out as soon as something breaks! Now, what does this tell us about all these modern electronic cameras? I wonder what'll happen to all these magnificent do-everything EOS cameras in five years - are they also condemned to the trash can because some microchip failed? Sad, isn't it? Glad I've still got my old Nikkormat... it's made of real metal, works without a battery, and has springs and levers inside instead of printed circuits, meaning a repair man can get at it and fix it with real tools! Mike

Great to find this site. Mabey someome can help me out . I reciently purchased a T-80 kit that included the T-80 body, AC35-70 lens, AC200mm f/4.5 lens, Speedlite, and case. The camera works in manual mode. However, the auto focus fails to work at all. I need two items; can any turn me on to the web location for the users manual and where is the location for access to the built in lithium memory battery? Thanks Fred

I damaged the battery compartment door on my T-70 - I wonder if maybe somebody might know a source for a replacement? I'd guess it probably means either buying a complete base panel... any ideas? Also, how does one access the built in lithium battery to change it? Thanks!

  43. From JLBphoto (Mon Mar 13 10:13:56 2000 ):
I am a Canon fan, with an A-1, AT-1, and a T-80. I have had a T-60, and a Rebel x, both which I traded in for various reasons. I like the FD lenses. The t-80 is a new aquisition, and it has a symbol on the LCD display that I don't know what it is... sorta looks like this: ((*)) It is displayed when the mode and iso buttons are pushed. The rest of the camera was easy to figure out with the help from this great website... Any Idea what that symbol means? JLBphoto www.jlbphoto.homepage.com

  44. From Jacko (Sat Mar 11 12:11:49 2000 ):
#John Greiner#: Most of your question can be answered in the FD lenses section : http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/companies/canon/fdresources/fdlenses/index.htm Just scroll down to the bottom and locate the Special Purpose Lenses and Click any of the Macro lenses. If that is too difficult or troublesome to do so - enrol a local photographic class or the last mean is: get a personal tutor to your house then !

Hi everyone. I have a T-50 with a Prinz Skylight(1A)52mm lens. I'd love to get some recommendations on what lens and type I should get for close-up, detail photo work. I'm specifically looking to photograph close detail shots on plastic models. I hear a "macro" lens is possibly what I'm after. Basically, I'd like to be able to get detailed shots only inches away from my subject. Any help would be greatly appreciated. E-mail me direct. Thanks much! John

I have recently purchased a second hand T70 and I seem to be getting some problems with the shutter button. Pressing it part way down seems to work fine for the f number to be displayed but to get it to take a picture I sometimes need to exert a great deal of force. Is it easy to fix / clean contacts of this switch. Or should I just hit it harder?. Thanks for any suggestions.
