Thanks for making up such a helpful website. I have a question about the eyepiece magnifier. What's the difference between F-2 and F-2N, and which one is compatible with Contax RX? Thanks, Henry

Having trouble with the alignment of the f-stop settings to what the viewfinder indicates. I have an assortment of FR1s and contax and the issue varies. The main problem is the may be on f/5.6 but the view finger show one stop difference, f/8 or f/4. This varies in the different combinations of lens and bodies, most of the time the viewfinder indicate a larger f-stop . I believe it’s the mechanical connection between the lens and body, maybe something is lose and an easy fix. Any ideas on how I fix this??

John

CONTAX FLASH QUESTION I am getting a Contax RTF540 flash plus the 540TLA adapter. Usage on the RTSIII and AX is pretty straight forward, although I don't know what the function is of the x-synchro contact (not the TTL-shoe contact) on the TLA adapter. Any thoughts? Can it be left off? If done so, is there danger of electric shock?

Any issues of using the RTF540 in conjunction with a TLA360? Would not expect it, but you never know.

I also plan to use this flash for large format photography. What is the best way to connect the RTF540 to a x-sync-only contact on a copal shutter? Thanks for your wisdom.

Please reply directly to photo@vetigastropoda.com Thank you.

Daniel

Hello, I have a RTS II Quartz and I have read that you must not shoot with the mechanical shutter while having the motor drive on, why is that? I ask because my father may have done this and the magnetic shutter release on the camera no longer works.

Hi, I have in my possession a Contax RTS2, mint condition just like new. The original tape across the film compartment is still in place. Film as never seen the inside of the compartment. This Camera is in pristine condition. Never used. I am willing to sell it for $750. Camera Body only (no lens). Contact me at: dadger29@hotmail.com

My CONTAX RTS appears to have developed a fault. It will only fire at one shutter speed. I have tried changing the battery but this still does not give me all the speeds around the AE collar. Anyone out there can you help?

Sorry to be the one with the news, but over on photo.net they've posted a rough translation of an announcement by Kyocera of the "completion of production" of the RTSIII, 85 1.4 and, as I scanned it, virtually everything else in MF SLRs. Or did I read it wrong? Dang, just when I finally got into the system!

Help Please ! My Contax RTS has recently jammed with the mirror locked up. At first I thought this was a battery failure so fitted new battery- but battery appears to have drained almost immediately. I read somwhere that this sort of occurrence indictaes an electrical short- but not sure if this is the case. Any thoughts anyone has will be helpful. Thanks Chris

Now here's a curiosity-- I have found two different variants of YUS 135mm f2.8 lenses. One came from a thrift shop for $8, and the other was a free throw-in while accumulating a few old takumars for a tiny sum. Anyhow, I now have before me #148083, which has a glossy black finish, and #692689, with a flat black finish and a chrome accent around the front of the focusing ring. Both focus just under 6 feet. But the big difference is that #14.... takes 55mm filters, but $69.... requires 58mm! Does anyone know the diffence between them? I haven't tested performance yet. I'm inclined to keep the one that takes the same 55mm filters as my other C/Y lenses.

How's that for an arcane question?
