This is a new section specifically created for rangefinder system users. I guess users of RF bodies/lenses users have a distinctive taste in their own. Most of all, they are a mix of collectors, photographers, historian etc. who may be having keen interest in the photographic equipment produced during the old days. But I guess most of allm, they are the elite group who are more to appreciative the excellence of mechanical / optical engineering presenting in the rangefinder system made during the older days. As it is rather hard to satisfy everyone intention when it relates to a website as each may have their own preferences on brands or types. Over the years, I have constructed quite a number of sites featuring a series of selective camera models and/or optics but they were all related to Single lens reflex (SLR) systems but not really focused on the rangefinder system yet. So,m technically, the RF-Nikon/Nikkor section is my first attempt. When I first started the site, I simply felt it is so unfair just to concentrate on the Nikon/Nikkor alone as there are so many good photographic systems with other major labels. So, other than my initail effort on the Nikon/Nikor, I am also taking the chance begin compiling some of the other information on other respectful labels as supplementary information for surfers. As there are already many excellent, established resources on the Network on the ame topic , probablyt I don't have to pursue one by one in details but simply confine my own effort within the early series of Nippon Kogaku and Nikkor only but I would also take the opportunity to introduce other equally good photograophic resources from comparing brands. This Message Board was created just for that purpose to patch things that I feel that might be missing in my own PIM site - as well as to provide a gateway for those that were not being featured yet. You may use it for whatever you think / deem suitable - regardless it is questions & answers (Q&A) or just make good use of it to share experience among one another on the rangefinder system. Lastly, as some of the remarks presented herein may be entirely personal and I do not wish to influence any decision prior to any potential purchases or disposal of your equipment. Naturally, you are always encouraged to make good use of this convenience of the MB here to present your own thoughts / views as well. Enjoy.

Hi Crystal:
The quickest thing to look for is the flash connection: a pair of round holes at the upper front corner of the body. The S has these, the I does not.

Really! The Nikkor lenses were very good, I use their 50/1.4 on my IIIF; but I don't know that I'd use the word "inferior" in reference to the Leitz Summicron. I think when you get into that level of quality, differences from one design to another may be more a matter of preference than a clear issue of superiority or inferiority.

I sometimes use a Leica IIIf and I have found that the Leica SM lenses are inferior to the Nikon LTM offerings of that era. Especially the Nikkor 5cm F2 is much superior to the 5cm SM Summicron, and Leitz did not offer anything even distantly comparable to the Nikkor 5cm F1.4 until much later and well into its "M" mount Summilux lens development.

I am writing here because I couldn`t find a direct email to who`s in charge of the Leica related information.
For the past 2 month I`ve been the prowd owner of a Leica M6 Canada Engraved 270 pieces series.
Because this site helped me numerous times both with Leica Information and Nikon explanations, I would like to send pictures of my rangefinder so you can add them to the related article.
Am am new in this RF world so I wouldn`t know where to begin if I you needed more info on the camera, but I would gladly answer all your questions.

"I am very proud of having been able to acquire Leica cameras from the Estate of Alfred Eisenstaedt. Attached, I send you some pictures, which you may use on your site if you like. M3E-1 is the first prototype of the later MP, made especially for Alfred Eisenstaedt (M3 "E" for "Eisenstaedt"). Further, Eisenstaedt used two MP cameras, number 271 and number 288. Leica M3-1000001 was presented as a chrome camera to Alfred Eisenstaedt in 1960. In 1989, Leica Camera Company equipped the camera with new gold plated parts, honoring Eisenstaedts lifelong contribution to photojournalism. The chrome parts of the 1960 presentation camera were not destroyed, but set back together as a dummy model and given back to Eisenstaedt together with the gold camera"

Probably the crises is hurting the luxurious segment of the camera market. anyway, this is a wonderfully, well compiled resources. and should had started earlier to let us a have a common place call home for the Leica M.

Can I give an opinion, the M6 section should separate the Classic and M6TTL in two sections, while the variants should be compiled into third. It is hard to find the right model. Anyway, this site is lovely and probably will develop into a very important references for us but could section them orderly based on models for easier navigation.
