Nikon F2A
Although it may be not very ethical to discuss the "Nikon F2 "25th Anniversary" model here, especially after being granted permission to use this superbly taken shot by Mr Sean Cranor from Camera West who offered his unit for Auction at Ebay; but I think without offending anyone and hurting the potential for good premium over its collector value; let us just confined to area where we can discussed how was this supposedly limited batch of Special Edition Nikon F2A bodies originated and let you decide where does it stands at the course of development of Nikon SLR cameras.

The fact is Nikon produced a series of 4000 units of these specially requested units to commemorate Nikon USA's first 25 years in business. Depends on perspective, if you are a true collector, you may find these bodies, which originated from a commercial idea by a regional distributor, as a fine collectibles.

But on the other hand, these limited quantity of 4000 units of Nikon F2A bodies which came in a real fashion as a limited edition collectibles, were well dressed up in a package. It even has its own silvery box, certified origin and provide an additional supplementary serial number allotted by the distributor which starts at "25 -XXXX" at the base plate of the camera.

Nikon F2A
The front portion where the usually camera model name is inscribed were replaced by a solidly molded metallic emblem depicting "25th Anniversary", which adds a sense of elegance compared to a standard production chrome Nikon F2A body. I am not so sure how much did Sean's unit managed to auction off; but a recent unit of an used F2 25th Anniversary Body w/Photomic-A Finder, ex+ from Format Camera (www.formatcamera.com) was prized at $699-00.That may roughly give us an indication how much dos this unit fetches.
