  1. From benny stevens (Thu Dec 10 23:07:14 1998 ):
This is again a wonderful site, just like those for F,F2,F3, Nikkormats! I already said that Nikon should have upgraded the F3 with the FE2 specs... they also should have kept the FE2 in their program : lots of people still want them. Just this week I bought a used FE2 and I need some replacement parts because it doesn't look too good in some spots. I need a decent base plate, film back and DOF lever. Who can help please? Thanks. Benny.

  2. From Hudson Wong (Wed Dec 9 23:37:42 1998 ):
It will be very nice if you can include the FE, FE2 manual in PDF format.

  3. From Chuck (Mon Dec 7 11:55:36 1998 ):
I have found that over the years technology is a wonderful thing but sometimes the old is better than new. I have found the FE2 to be a wonderful tool and have for the most part put my AF wonder camera away . Its too bad that Nikon has not really listened to the people who use their equipment. I hope everyone who visits this site will find it as great as I have. There is a tremendous amount of hard work put into this site by the maintainer(s) and his friends. This is the best information site for Nikon on the web.

  4. From Jim Bartell (Mon Dec 7 00:29:01 1998 ):
Greetings. i need information please. I have an FE body that needs some repairs. Any ideas who to send it to? Thanks. E-mail to me direct would be great.

  5. From Eric Bogaerts (Fri Dec 4 04:38:09 1998 ):
I was wondering if someone could help me here. It seems that the FM-10 is the same camera as the FM-10 with the addition of Apeture priority. I haven't read very much about this camera in any press circles (it's obviously imported) and I need some confirmation on this.

  6. From Leonard P S Foo (Sun Nov 29 12:27:02 1998 ):
I had some heart problems two months back and been through a bad spell fighting off a period of depression after the angioplasty operation. Most of these content in the FM/FE/FA sites were created during treatment at the heart centre using a Powerbook. Components prepared here may not represent best of what the FE/FE2/FE10 can offer, but should be adequately good enough to help a 'new' user who may have bought any of these used cameras mentioned in these few sites. Besides, supporting writeup were intended to help him/her to startoff with a little background of the Nikon photographic system. For things and issues not covered in this site, please use the Message Board creatively. Enjoy.

  7. From Morten Wiken (Fri Jan 15 03:38:49 1999 ):
Thanks for a great site. Found lots of info about the FE2 here that I haven't been able to find elsewhere.

  8. From Art G. Carpio (Tue Jan 12 21:33:42 1999 ):
I just bought an FE10 body with 35-70mm lens. I want to add some more accessories to the unit to have better pictures. If anybody can advice me of what more do I need to add will be appreciated very much. I am an amature to this that needs some advice from professionals.

  9. From Nick (Sat Jan 9 11:55:31 1999 ):
I inherited my fathers FE and have been looking for good information about the camera for a while. This site is very helpfull, and I am very thankful to those who created it. I was in a store getting my FE repaired when another man toting a big sophisticated-looking SLR came up to me and said "Is that an FE? I had one years ago and sold it. It's a great camera, I wish I still had it. It's all you'll need." Thank you for this site.

  10. From sd (Sun Jan 3 00:45:45 1999 ):
Looking for a bottom protective cover/case for my FE, where might I locate one? The one I have has torn snap straps. Your help is greatly appreciated. Happy New Year!

  11. From Ricky Cruz (Sun Dec 27 07:05:12 1998 ):

  12. From Mono D'Angelo (Tue Dec 22 00:34:40 1998 ):
I have a FE series I recently purchased used but in mint condition. I am looking for tips on good techniques when using the flash. Things such as F stops vs. distance, recommended film and film speeds, use of telephoto lens with flash, are areas where I need some improvement. If anyone has any information, I would be very appreciative. Thanks.

  13. From Jerry Mendelsberg (Mon Dec 21 00:22:29 1998 ):
As a user of an fe and fe2, I am delighted to see this board up and plan on being a frequent visitor. You are doing a great job and I wish you well. To Wayne Ellis, re an alternative flash to use, I use sb20's for ttl with the fe2 and auto with the fe. Try one, you will be happily surprised. for thoe who need repair of these models, I can suggest Pete Smith at Fotocamera Repair in Lake Worth Florida. Tel 561-433-8434 or email petesmithnikon@msn.com He has alwys taken good care of all my Nikons

  14. From john gilbert (Thu Dec 17 02:32:26 1998 ):
Can I get 2nd curtain sync with the FE2 if I use my SB24 with it?

  15. From Wayne Willis (Sun Dec 13 12:03:29 1998 ):
I have a Nikon FE-2 and Metz 45 CT3 Flash. For most of my shooting the Metz is serious overkill. I would like a small flash for the FE-2 with TTL. The smaller the better. Any suggestions?

  16. From Cliff Maddox (Fri Dec 11 03:36:37 1998 ):
I am trying to find a place to purchase a Nikon Fe10 for Xmas. Can anyone let me know where I can inquire as to availability and price? Thanks

  17. From peter pomponi (Fri Jan 29 03:12:32 1999 ):
can anyone help me identify a camera I'm thinking about purchasing? The serial# is FE3030246 but there is no model name or number. Does anyone know how to trace the history of NIKON models throught the serial numbers?? (year of production, model, etc...) I would also like to get a sense of what the camera might be worth. Thanks! Pete

  18. From Ernie Richstein (Wed Jan 27 22:31:43 1999 ):
Looking for a source for 2 items for a Nikon FE: 1) Case bottom 2) finder eyepiece. Any help would be appreciated.

  19. From Cecil Moon (Wed Jan 27 10:19:58 1999 ):
I have had an FE2 since 1984 and have no desire to replace it with any other camera with all the horns bells and whistles. Unfortunately the shutter has become very badly messed up. A local camera repair shop (with an excellent reputation) has informed me that repair parts are no longer available. If anyone has knowledge of a reputable shop or service who might repair my beloved companion I would certainly appreciate hearing from you. Thanks much.

  20. From Bobby Morris (Wed Jan 27 03:56:05 1999 ):
This NIKON FE site is great. I am having a flash sync problem with my FE and believe the site answered some questions, hope so. If you could recommend the best location for a repair/checkup, I'd appreciate it. I live in Key Largo, Fl.

  21. From CenturyWoods (Tue Jan 26 13:07:14 1999 ):
The mirror would "stick" because the shock dampening foam (Under the focusing screen holder) is deteriorating over the time or could be left un-attended in a high humidity condition for an extended period of time - It is not an uncommon problem for general hardware maintanance, but the replacement cost should be minimal. This issue has been addressed in this site: http://mir.com.my/rb/photography/hardwares/classics/nikonfeseries/fe2/fe2c.htm

  22. From Tom Ruschmeyer (Tue Jan 26 06:52:56 1999 ):
I bought an FE new 20 years ago, still have it. Last spring I was cleaning the mirror and noticed the foam light seal around the mirror was turning into a black goo. The next thing I knew the stuff was all over the mirror, focus screen and much of the inner camera. Tried to clean it up but the goo is very tenacious. Has this happened to anyone else? What can I use to clean this thing up? Can I get new parts (screen, mirror, etc.)? Thanks, TR

  23. From nick (Sun Jan 24 04:17:21 1999 ):
what is the best flash to use with fe best motor drive for fe thanks for the feedback

  24. From Doug (Sat Jan 23 06:17:09 1999 ):
I noticed you do not have the FE-2 manual in PDF format posted here. Do you know where I can download a copy? Thanks

  25. From Mark Hemmings (Mon Jan 18 04:06:12 1999 ):
Would it be possible to use a Canon 244T Speedlight on my FE10? I realize Nikon frowns on this, but would it really affect the cameras electronics? Thanks for your help!

  26. From Petie (Sat Jan 16 12:57:36 1999 ):
I would like to thank everyone that helped me find the instruction manual for my FE Nikon. I would also like to delete that message. Thanks Petie

  27. From jamie (Wed Feb 10 16:46:35 1999 ):
What a fantastic site. The information is terrific. I have owned a FE series for nearly two years this is the first time I have been able to find comprehensive info on the FE model and its accessories. Plan to take it to the south west of Tasmania for four days of wilderness photogrophy. My walking partner shall be using a Pentax MZ60. Keen to if there are any noticable differences. Well done on such a useful web site. Regards jamie.

  28. From Dan MacDonald (Wed Feb 10 01:50:41 1999 ):
I am looking to buy a nice FE, and have tried bidding for a couple on ebay. The nice FE's are selling for more than they sold for new. Each camera receives a number of bids, and at the last minute people bid them up to nearly $300. I wish the folks at Nikon would notice this and bring back the FE!

  29. From cheah chee kin (Tue Feb 9 23:55:54 1999 ):
I have a F50 and would like to buy a mechanical camera to supplement it. I went to the second have store and found a FE, FM and FG all in good working conditions. Which is the best of these three? Can the FE used without batteries? I would prefer a non-battery dependent camera because it will be more rugged. It seems that FE is most popular in GB. Thank You.

  30. From Doug Burreson (Mon Feb 8 10:54:15 1999 ):
I recently bought an FE for my son for his birthday. He is just starting out in photography so he needs all the help he can get. Having read the other messages posted I see references to PDF versions of camera manuals. Can anyone point me to a PDF version of the FE manual? Your help would be greatly appreciated.

  31. From MICHAEL (Sat Feb 6 18:45:02 1999 ):
I've just bought a Nikon FE-10 together with a speedlight Nikon SB-23 a few days ago. And as I read through the instruction manual for my FE10, I realise that only SB-27,SB-26, SB-22 and SB-16B Nikon speedlights can be used with my FE-10. Could the SB-23 speedlight be use or will it be unsuitable? Please advice. Ugrent! Thanx!

  32. From Carl B Rickerson (Sat Feb 6 11:10:00 1999 ):

I have an FE2 that I am interested in passing on to my daughter for travel and outdoor photography, Any recommendations for a versatile Nikon zoom lense, reasonably fast, in the 28 to 120 range? Also, a recommendation for a flash unit? thanks, richard

  34. From Clayton (Thu Feb 4 02:34:38 1999 ):
Does anyone know how to match FE2 body serial numbers to the year in which it was made? I'm looking to buy an FE2, but i'd like to have some sense of how old the body really is? Could someone please point me to a resource which might provide this info? Much appreciated.

  35. From Don (Mon Feb 1 13:18:58 1999 ):
I'm new to the internet and this is my first e-mail. I'm a fan of the FE and I own 2 black bodies and 6 lenses. I shoot photos for a rifle magazine and have carried one camera in my shooting kit for over 15 years. A few years ago, I picked up second body as a spare. This ones like new and stays in a hard case in the vehicle. The first one has little finish left but it works fine. I should replace the rear seal and have it cleaned. I think I've made over $5 thousand dollars with this "poor abused camera" it's paid my entry fees to many rifle matches. I've looked at new camera systems, they seem so fragile I don't think it would last the season. Change your battery often. Don

  36. From neil (Mon Feb 1 00:52:52 1999 ):
i've owned an FE-10 for about a year now. today i had a problem with the shutter. it simply wouldn't fire. i couldn't advance the film. if anyone has had a similar problem and knows how to fix it, please let me know. thanx.

  37. From Leonard (Wed Mar 3 11:24:40 1999 ):
I am so sorry. The basic camera operation section has a wrong link to part III from the page Part II. It has been updated, RELOAD ALL pages you have visited to clear the cache in your system. While it can be too tedious for me to reproduce a camera manual in PDF while I am on other development work, please use the HTML version instead (Print it out if you like for off line reference). http://mir.com.my/rb/photography/hardwares/classics/nikonfeseries/fe/basic1.htm

  38. From Alpesh Patel (Wed Mar 3 09:11:10 1999 ):
Does anyone know how to match FE2 SLR body's serial numbers to the year in which it was made? I am looking for buying an Nikon FE2, but I had like to have some sence of how old the body really is? Could someone please point me to a resources which might provide this information? Also can anyone point me to a PDF version of the FE or FE2 camera manual on the internet? Your help would be grately appreciated. Thanks in advance. Alpesh.

  39. From Milton L.Wagy (Wed Mar 3 07:41:24 1999 ):
I am reference librarian and need a instruction manual for a patron. She had a NIKON FE...but no manual. Can anyone give suggestions? Thanks, Milton L. Wagy Patron: Marcia Hollinger 509-925-5389

  40. From Jake (Sat Feb 27 08:12:31 1999 ):
The FE2's shutter is stuck. It won't click back eventhough I tried the M250 setting. I also suspected battery problem. We tried it with another pair of batteries which were not new and it didn't work. I will try new batteries today. Thanks much FE2 user. I needed that.

  41. From FE2User (Thu Feb 25 17:53:49 1999 ):
Please be specific, what kind of 'shutter' Problem ? Sometimes, 'problems' arising from inactivity could be just resolved by just changing a fresh set of batteries and work out by the M250 a couple of times.

  42. From Jake (Thu Feb 25 15:10:13 1999 ):
I've had this used Nikon FE2 since 1995. A few years ago I had it fixed for a shutter problem. I discovered recently after months of inactivity that the problem is back. I paid quite a some for that repair job at Empress Studio in Kuching. Please tell me where I can get it repaired for good and cheap as well. I don't want it sent to a place where they might salvage my good parts with theirs while in their shop.

  43. From andrew (Tue Feb 23 11:26:47 1999 ):
What a fantastic site. I have a mint FE2, and have learnt some much more about this camera than anywhere else. A great resource.

  44. From krys (Mon Feb 22 01:10:50 1999 ):
I bought a second had Nikon FE with MD12 motor drive christmas. It seem to be working fine at first. Suddenly the reflex miror started to stick. It would go up and not come back done. I replaced the batteries in the camera thinking that might be the problem. After that it would work sometmes and not other times. It would usually stick if there was a role of film in but not if there was not film inside. The mirror would only release if on M90. Now it does not seem to even work on that setting. I live in the CAyman Islands. There is no mikon technician here that I know of. Don't know what to do. THe gy I bought it from says it was fine when he had it. I have no clue what could be wrong. Grateful for any help. Want to start taking pics again!!!

  45. From Scott (Thu Feb 11 21:18:33 1999 ):
I've owned an FE for 2 years. It has been extremely reliable in very harsh conditions (high altitudes, extreme temperatures, etc.). I love this camera! Thanks so much for posting this html manual! Great site!

  46. From Nige (Thu Feb 11 19:04:56 1999 ):
I've had my FE since purchased new when they first came out. It's never been to a technician although it could probably do when a clean internally, especially the eyepiece. I recently wanted another body for colour film so went searching. I ended up with a FM2 as the price was right. FE's and FM's, what a great combo :) Anyway, great site!

  47. From Nan (Fri Mar 26 03:15:44 1999 ):
I am a photography novice and am looking to buy a good manual camera. I'm trying to decide between Nikon's FM2N and FE2. I want to shoot some macro stuff of plants as well as do some potraits and photojournalism type shot. Could anyone give me any suggestions as to which would be a better choice? Are lenses interchangeable on both of these models? I also want to take pictures of music concerts. Has anyone had any trouble reading the needle meter of the FE2 in dark settings? Sorry to sound like such a neophyte.

  48. From Lee (Thu Mar 25 15:42:12 1999 ):
I have a chance to buy a FE2 with a 200mm zoom lense in good working order. The price is $100.00. Is this a good price? All comments welcome.

  49. From Salim Dom (Mon Mar 22 02:13:45 1999 ):
