LEICA MP 0.72X Titanium Rangefinder camera model, 2007

For those who often doubt if ever LEICA had introduced a MP Titan, these series of photos may answer your question. It was first being announced in Japan during April, 2007 where s special limited edition of 150 units of these Titanium MP was released to commemorate 1st Anniversary opening of a LEICA specialist store in Ginza district, Tokyo. However, it was not being released for global distribution.

This is an incredibly attractive camera, all exterior metal parts and fittings were using Titanium metal which used the same manufacturing process for the LEICA M7 Titanium. According the the press release, there were 30 parts and fittings involved with using this light weight and incredibly strong, corrosive resistant metal to protect its internal components. Titanium parts which extends to use on the film speed index disc at the rear section. In comparison with the standard production unit, this MP Titan weighs approx. 90g lighter. The entire edition consists of only 150 units which has Serial Number controls from 001~150/150 engraved on the accessory shoe. The LEICA MP Titan edition has not been supplied with a matching lens, so, even the body cap was a single molded Titanium cap. The LEICA Ginza is not entirely a retail outlet but functions more like a specialist trade centre for LEICA to create a presence. Other than providing consultation to local LEICA enthusiasts, its LEICA Gallery often holds exhibition. The first of such photo exhibit held in the LEICA Ginza was Elliott Erwitt's "Moment of Discovery" back in July, 2006.

I a not sure if the Leica Ginza still keeps any of these LEICA MP Titan bodies. But may be I can point you to a source as provided below. NOTE: The original price of this MP Titan was JY 898,000-00 which is around 8,868.35 USD but due to the exchange rate is very unstable lately, you may make use of the
Currency Converter to get the latest conversion. The Seller, Matsumoto has a price tag of JYen 980,000-00, which is still fair - considering he has something that you don't and assuming if they are willing to compromized with a little bargain/negotiation.
