Study on Repainted and/or High quality painted
Leica M3 Olive
This is an interesting high quality
repainted work on a Leica Olive. The camera is a double stroke body.
Leicashop™ had certified this olive was not
original. You probably can use the original Olive colored M3 one step above as the
basis for comparison. I guess the certification or authentication process may involve
from Leica official records, it also takes an experienced Leica collector to differentiate
the details. It was a known fact that there are high quality conversion work and
services to satisfy personal request for alterations. As long as as it was not intended
for a cheat, that s fine. Olive bodies were available in different labels, which
include Canon (example Canon F1 ODF1)
and even The Leica R system has almost a similar configuration. A good example on
high quality conversion work from original body was best represented in a good conversion
work on a Nikon F Olive,
but the said camera was originated from a request by the owner to replicate a Nikon
F unit similar to the Original ODF1. Whatever its, I still have to ackowledge these
were a fine effort and are examples of such services available in the market today
to satisfy personal request for a dream configuration from a personal favorite collection.
Oh.. just to satify your curiosity,
this Leica M3 Olive converion body was using a M3 Double Stroke. Despite it was certified
as a conversion kit M3 Olive, autioneer Leicashop® has put up a good premium at
a buy-it-now price of EURO 1,500-00. Because other than a very "viewable"
M3 Olive exterior dressing in technically perfect state, it is still an original
M3 DD body within.
