Photography in Malaysia Community Section:
Public Discussion Forum on Various Issues on Photography

Share common knowledge & exchanging experience with your views on photography. I know the original Free Trade Zone section may has some restriction imposed on its content (only Buy/Sell Stuffs), but as requests are pouring in to create another section for other subjects other than buy/disposal of equipments, so, as much as I can offer, I have used the template for other existing message boards to create another section for all of you to use. As this is a non-profitable section, so I didn't ask our programming staffs to creste a dedicated thread-like format. I am not sure if this has served its purpose but nevertheless, it is a channel for all of you to utilise to express other thoughts on photography-related issues. A few volunteers have been appointed to edit the content as it requires. You may make use of this convenience here to present your own views. Enjoy.

This site is specifically created for common usage on photographic issues. Please don't mail me other than constructive suggestions or rectifying mistakes found in this site, thank you. Since this is a non-profitable resource site - The developer of this site reserves the rights to censor or delete any inappropriate, unrelated, misleading or excessively hostile messages posted herein. If your intention is to dispose your photographic equipment(s) or its accompanying accessories or looking for a used model or any of its system components, please use the ORIGINAL FTZ section with a higher volume of traffic Free Trade Zone site instead. The Photography In Malaysia has no Guestbook on its own, because it is an integral part of the MIR site. But if you want to leave a note on your experience visiting this site, you may use the MIR's Guestbook at another new window by clicking on the Guestbook Link.

The respective Message Boards are some of the HARDEST hit section of the PIM site, if at any one time, the traffic is high - the table/content may take a while to load the data, just be patience. If it stalls, just click on the 'Reload' or 'Refresh' button on your browser menu once to re-attempt. Thank you.

Under the psuedonym "Jack" I advertised to buy a Nikon 300mm lens and asked potential sellers to contact me. When I successfully bought one through the posting, I posted a message on 30.9.2006 to say that I have bought it. This is to inform readers not to make me any more offers.

The moderator deleted my posting.

I can accept the moderator's decision except that there are so many "Item Sold" posting allowed in this site. Why does he disallow my so-called "Item Already Bought" posting ?

Unless the moderator can be more consistent, this can be pretty annoying.

Both lenses are very good. In telephoto shoots, the longer the distance between yourself, the subject and the background, the more blur you'd have. And, the longer the focal length, the better the blur (tested at compared to say 50mm at f/2.8. Now, in my experience, the 2.8 gives you better leverage in cases where the background is rather near the subject for it gives more blur than a f/4 could (this also applies in studio shoots). In any case, "IS" is a must unless of course you'd be using a tripod. Even a monopod needs IS to my opinion. Even more so if you're NOT using 1D-series or 5D bodies (others would give you a crop factor of 1.6x which accentuates your focal length, making 200mm seem like a 320mm). For me, I'd buy the 2.8 IS model for it covers a lot more shooting conditions. That's why it's a lot more expensive :) Good luck.....

Those of us who use this forum to sell equipment should state the serial numbers of our equipment in the advert. Make this a practice so that potential buyers will not trust adverts which do not have such numbers. This is to minimise the sale of stolen equipment in this forum.

Those of us who buy, we should insist on the seller giving us his home telephone number or workplace telephone numbers before we pay for the goods online before receiving them. Call this number to talk to him, not his H/P. If the price is too good to be true, beware. If the seller gives plenty of excuses for not being able to COD, forget it.

Complacency on our parts will encourage fraud.

There is a guy who calls himself Lee and has an MBB Bank Account. He tried to sell me a lens for RM1,000+ but wants cash first. He has no office telephone number nor house telephone number. He cannot even email me pictures of the lens and said his wife took his PnS camera so he can't photograph the lens hahaha. I refused to pay. I think he's a fraud.
