Photography in Malaysia Community Section:
The respective Message Boards are some of the HARDEST hit section of the PIM site, if at any one time, the traffic is high - the table/content may take a while to load the data, just be patience. If it stalls, just click on the 'Reload' or 'Refresh' button on your browser menu once to re-attempt. Thank you.
Share common knowledge & exchanging experience with your views on photography. I know the original Free Trade Zone section may has some restriction imposed on its content (only Buy/Sell Stuffs), but as requests are pouring in to create another section for other subjects other than buy/disposal of equipments, so, as much as I can offer, I have used the template for other existing message boards to create another section for all of you to use. As this is a non-profitable section, so I didn't ask our programming staffs to creste a dedicated thread-like format. I am not sure if this has served its purpose but nevertheless, it is a channel for all of you to utilise to express other thoughts on photography-related issues. A few volunteers have been appointed to edit the content as it requires. You may make use of this convenience here to present your own views. Enjoy.
This site is specifically created for common usage on photographic issues. Please don't mail me other than constructive suggestions or rectifying mistakes found in this site, thank you. Since this is a non-profitable resource site - The developer of this site reserves the rights to censor or delete any inappropriate, unrelated, misleading or excessively hostile messages posted herein. If your intention is to dispose your photographic equipment(s) or its accompanying accessories or looking for a used model or any of its system components, please use the ORIGINAL FTZ section with a higher volume of traffic Free Trade Zone site instead. The Photography In Malaysia has no Guestbook on its own, because it is an integral part of the MIR site. But if you want to leave a note on your experience visiting this site, you may use the MIR's Guestbook at another new window by clicking on the Guestbook Link.

In responding to the earlier post:- NOT fair to "Nikon". It is the people that has made it worst .. old cultures & same old gang from the previous Shiroro (?).

That is a generous budget. Yes. Any of the few mentioned models will serve all your needs. So, it can just boil down to selecting which label. Personally, I felt the Sony is too bulky, Minolta & Nikon local support has been "notorious" (+ expensive), so, in case your camera requires certain kind of services, this may be be an "experience" with them, Canon can be the choice (you can go for alternatives, they are cheaper..).
However, as each have their own strength and some areas that might be less desirable, it is hard to conclude a rightful choice in a few sentences But if I were to start all over again, I would choose Canon - Good lens, very compact and easy to get it fix if something screws up. (hey, I am using a Nikon 5700 too but advice is an advice, I don't want others to "suffer" like what I been through (hopeless service + marketing - these guys should be @%#@*&*..).
Anyway, I think there is also No hurry rush to get any of the fancy accessories first, get the camera and familiar with its functions and decides later.

haha.. Bak Kut Teh with Teh Tarik & Roti Tisu as header image ? that is funny. Anyway, like this idea. The only complaint on the FTZ is, sometimes seller(s) repeats similar posting without reducing the price, please check terms - YOU MUST reduce the first price in order to report ! Another guy I hate is the Low Yat fella, IF you want to advertise, JUST GIVE YOUR ITEM QUOTE and PRICE, not to drag me to his site to view what is up - for don know how many weeks has been announcing BIG DISCOUNT but ended only one item inside with RM50 reduction ! dirty trick..Just follow th rules ( I am glad the moderator always deleted his repetitive announcements of discount ads, make sense, I support your action all the way. I also use no-mail bolih juga way, sorry.

Good to have a nomail can function website. In relation to the earlier post (kakaman ? leofoo ?), my own late Ynag Di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Ismail (I have seen the works of his at somewhere in this site) was also a dedicated photographer. He used reflex Rollei. I remembered the photo of our Queen (at the waterfall) he took - that was something NICE..

CALL for HELP:- I am not sure if this will work. Any photographer that currently resides at Kelantan can help me to take a session of photos for a local temple there ? I need them for a site on Buddhist site (so, it may not be appropriate to Muslim friends here). The location is at Tanah MAS, the temple is alled WAT Uttamaram. The content is already redily avialble for that site (courtesy of Mr. Stan). IF quality of pictures is good, perhaps I can use it to create another spot for the Malaysian Landmark Series. Please contact anyone that mentioned at the above link. As usual, credit and link will be provided. Thank You.
The primary site for any contributing pictures of this mini project will be used as an extension for:
Hope to have favourable replies. Similarly, IF anyone has historical OLD PICTURES or PHOTOS (black & White) taken back in '70 or '80, if will also help a great deal. Lastly, I am not sure has the temple had any Royal visit by the current Thai King, I would love to have such a photo/reprint help to illustrate or beef up the content of the site ? Further: I am not sure if anyone knows his Majesty, King Bhumipol Adulyadej of Thailand actually is a very keen photographer himself - a big fan of Canon (from days of FD Mount Canon to current EOS), I think.

Oh.. in response to one of the posting regarding "Big C & N" versus Minolta (now Konica-Minolta), to be fair, the alliance between both companies (K/M) can be seen as a stretagic business alliance - makes plenty of common sense, film industry may slow doan considerably due to new sales of digital stuffs while Minolta has an access to a market they never been active into and similarly, Konica, eventhough has some digital SLRs to offer, but they have never being referred as respectable in this area (optical lenses, in particular), so, both should be able to benefit from such kind of tie-up. In between, produces such as copiers, printers etc. can e share and market together in regions each has their presence, I would say, it is not so much (as bad as) of n immediate survival state as claimed. Sorry for my view.

Cool.. this is a good supplement to the original FTZ. Very creative to select the term "zouk" and made it as another FTZ variant. FTZ is actually my start-off page of IE. While MIR has a kind of international appeal to external users. local sites such as Photo Malaysia also has one similar board, which provides good alternative. There is another photo magzine named lenaMalaysia in the making,, hope it is turning into another useful forum locally. Cheers, all.
