I just bought a new Canon SLR camera and now I am looking into buying lenses to go along with it, when I came across the words "Aspherical Lens". I had no idea what that meant and your section on Aspherical lens cleared that right up for me. Thank you for such good information.

Dear Young Man of 55, Thank you for having such an attractive and interesting website. I came across this by accident when I was looking for something about the Canon EOS500. I was around 15 years before you and when you were 6 to 8 years of age, I was wandering around in your lovely jungles full of snakes, tigers, terrorists and some beautiful colours. Most of the time I lived in the KL High Street (where the condemned Traffic Police building is - opposite what is now a new building with an ancient facia). Sometimes I lived next to the Victoria Institute where some of the homes had the beautiful colours shown in your photographs. At other times I lived in your Wardieburn Army camp but it was not enclosed by suburbs in those days. All in all, I thought Malaya had extraordinary colours and that included the wide range of greens found in the jungles. I live in Australia where greens are replaced in most of the country by variations on burnt umber and orange. Our garden is green with a pool, numerous trees plus blossoms and fruit to give pleasure. Sorry if I have taken up too much of your time. I just thought you might like to hear that your site still gives pleasure to older men than yourself!!! Kindest regards from, John Ward, Asutralia.

Superb site on F1n. Superb camera.
Q. Is it possible that there were two (or more) incarnations of the F1n? And I don't mean limited edition Olympic versions of one-off unusable gold-plated nonsense. Was there a later model that was the F1n "even newer", with a redesigned film advance lever; and a changed & more detailed (but poorer quality?) aperture shut-down button, but with a much stronger spring arrangement; and a different far more matt black paint finish - a military version perhaps??? [But still with no mirror lock-up alas! Otherwise it really would have been perfect.] Why is this F1n slightly and subtlely different from my previous one? Anyone?

Subject: Thank You ! Hello, I discovered your website this week because I was searching for information about Nikkormat cameras. Your site has excellent information and I wanted to thank you for putting up such interesting, detailed, and well thought out information. It wasn't until a few days ago that I discovered that you were in Malaysia. But photography, just like pharmaceutical technology is universal in its appeal. You are quite correct in that it is difficult to find an email address to write and tell you this. But I am glad that I persisted. Thank you for such an excellent site and interesting philosophical thoughts. I enjoy reading them very much.
