Hi - I recently acquired a Nikon F (sn 6970797) with FTn prism. However I cannot remove the prism. The lock lever at the front seems to operate and release properly, and the release button at the back pops the finder up at back side, enough to disengage the shutter speed dial. However, no matter how much I jiggle it about the prism does not come off completely. Am I doing something wrong or is this something that need an expert to look at?

Nikon F circa 1967
When operating the lever wind, there is a distinct roughness in the travel.
Towards the last 10-15% of the travel there is a distinct click and a difference in tension.
Is this a characteristic or a fault please

I have a Nikon f serial number 6443783 it is in mint condition everything on it works the timer shutter no scratches. I believe it was made in 1961 i want to sell it how much is it worth. It has a lens it says nikkor h auto serial number 320106

I have a F Nikon that is not exactly like any on the history pictoral page, it has a very complicated 8 inch long lense.

Hi I have owened nikons since 1970 and love them. I was looking on Ebay and saw a ftn black body "apollo". I have never heard of an apollo. is there such a modell and if so how can you if it is? Some help, please.

Hi Duane:

The highest serial number Nikon F I've owned was #7441009, so your 7450xxx isn't totally out of line.

These were the last series of Nikon F, produced in the summer and fall of 1973. They are often referred to as "Apollo" cameras, and are distinguished by having a plastic tip on the wind lever and a plastic self timer lever. There is a complete serial number listing here:

Hello,
I have just received an all black Nikon F Series Camera with a Nikkor F1.4 S.C lens. I was trying to research the history and the S/N appears to be above the manufactured range, it is in the series of 7450xxx. I am trying to research the age and exact model.

Can anybody help me.

Dear sir: Thank you very much. I have a Nikon F series body #7014717,with a FTN view finder#532782.I will be grateful if you could tell me the year that each one were made. Also i need a service center in England to give my lovely Nikon a good cleaning and service. I currently am in Iran. I have sent the camera to friends in London. They are totally lost where to send it. I enjoy my Nikon very much and i need to take pictures with it.Through her lens i can see what i normally am blind to.
