Some Selective Digital SLRs - Message Board/Guestbook

Whether like it or not, owners of Digital Still SLR cameras have similar problems with computer users - the hardwares tend to phased out very rapidly & replaced with new models, while the ultimate goal of a full frame 35mm format with realistic prices, older models of Digicam may present some support issues - while I hope the creation of this Message Board provide some form of relief to exiting owners as well as those who may intend to invest into one of the used units as prices are more realistic as compared to many newer models. Some of the opinion presented within the site was entirely personal and I do not wish to influence any decision prior to any potential purchases or disposal. So, this forum is intended to provide a channel for all to make use of it to present your own individual views. Lastly, we can make use of this Board to learn from each other and share experience so as to improve our skill. As I don't have much time upkeeping as well as keeping up with so many new Digital SLRs that keep streaming up from the respective manufacturers; so, as for now, just treat this website as MIR's contribution to the Network for the photographic community. Lastly, please respect ownership of various brands and AVOID touching on sensitive topics (such as my brand is better than yours...). Enjoy.

The lens type is IMPORTANT. If it is non-Ai - good luck.. If they are Ai (Ai-S), they may be usable based on 1) for entry level or mid range Nikon Digital SLRs- manual, Apeture priority AE mode or possibly Pgogrammed AUTO with lens lock to minimum aperture BUT Nikon did stupid move by not permiting the exposure/metering data shown on LCD (looks like they think you have got enough back from your investment of my old MF lenses, no they want you to buy their new AF lens); more expensive DSLR be able to use them (Ai/Ai-S). An example of mid range in terms of compatibility is here:

Sara : try to format the card again (If there is nothing inside). Follow the instruction from the manual on How-to. You can also format via the computer when it is linked to the camera.

No mistakes. Nikon flash offers excellent backward compatibility. The ony thing you miss is the new features. Virtually all the available features in your F801s can be use seamlessly with the SB-28 because F801(s) was like the first among the series that offers / started the Nikon great flash expousre control system. I reciently re-purchased a Nikon 8008s camera. My original was the best camera I ever had, in my opinion. (an ex liberated me of my canera about 10 years ago). I also purchased seperately from ebay, by mistake, an sb-28 speedlight, not the sb24 I use to have... does anyone know how compatable they are or if I chould get a different model?

please email me any help
Thanks much

I just received a Nikon D70, which I ordered used. Everything seems to be in perfect working order and great shape, EXCEPT it says there is "no card present," memory card that is. I've just bought a brand new memory card, and it stills says this. I am pretty frustrated and would really appreciate any help I can get.

Nice website. I have been using Nikon since the Nikon F3. I had two of those and I used them for a very long time for general photography and for weddings. A few years ago, I went to the D70 digital camera with the AF lenses. I now have two D70s bodies. I also bought a Nikon F6 and two Nikon F100 camera bodies which I use for spares. The F6 is the very best camera of them all.
My first AF lens was the Nikon 105mm F2.8 AF. It is beautiful and very sharp. Now I am all AF. I have the 20mm F2.8, 35mm F2, 50mm F1.4, 105mm F2-DC, 180mm F2.8. I only have one zoom. It is the aspherical 35-105mm F3.5-4.5. It is nice because it is push-pull to zoom and it does not flare. It is an outdoor lens and too slow to use indoors.

When I had the F3 camera bodies, I had some real nice MF lenses. I used the 35mm F1.4 and the 50mm F1.2 and the 85mm F2. The 135mm F2.8 and the 24mm F2 were a part of my wedding collection. I think Nikon is too slow to update their AF lenses and the fact that you cannot tell the difference from a pro lens to the amateur version is a pity.

I would like to help your opinion about this:
I got a Kodak DCS560 that stop shooting after the very first frame. Then, it juts has "Unable to take picture. Card full." message, although the media card is empty.

Here's what I had done so far:

--- Change the media card- did not work
----Full formatted of the card(s)- did not work
----Plugging off the battery/power. Then, reseated the DCS560- did not work.
( I had tried using SanDisk of 8/16/32/64/128 MB)

If I plug the camera to my computer and then tells the camera to by pass its cards and just copy my shoot; the camera runs okay, though. Have any of you guys and gals had a similar problem? How you when after it? Thanks. George
