Some Selective Digital SLRs - Message Board/Guestbook

Whether like it or not, owners of Digital Still SLR cameras have similar problems with computer users - the hardwares tend to phased out very rapidly & replaced with new models, while the ultimate goal of a full frame 35mm format with realistic prices, older models of Digicam may present some support issues - while I hope the creation of this Message Board provide some form of relief to exiting owners as well as those who may intend to invest into one of the used units as prices are more realistic as compared to many newer models. Some of the opinion presented within the site was entirely personal and I do not wish to influence any decision prior to any potential purchases or disposal. So, this forum is intended to provide a channel for all to make use of it to present your own individual views. Lastly, we can make use of this Board to learn from each other and share experience so as to improve our skill. As I don't have much time upkeeping as well as keeping up with so many new Digital SLRs that keep streaming up from the respective manufacturers; so, as for now, just treat this website as MIR's contribution to the Network for the photographic community. Lastly, please respect ownership of various brands and AVOID touching on sensitive topics (such as my brand is better than yours...). Enjoy.

As this site is specifically created for this purpose - so, please don't mail me other than constructive suggestions or rectifying mistakes found in this site, thanking you. Anyone having shutter problems with a Nikon D70. Mine was working fine, but suddenly has been intermittently not been allowing me to take any pictures. The digital readout at the top flashes F - - repeatedly and the shutter button can't be depressed. We've taken it back to the camera store and they can't figure it out either. We've tried different lenses and had the same problem; and tried our lens on different bodies with no problem. It's under warranty but we hate to send it in for six weeks or longer because sometimes just jiggling the lens makes it work. It's very frustrating. Any ideas?

Pain ... except for the signle-digit D models that can work but still it has other restriction on metering center-weighted (it works on Av, possibly Program AE & Tv as well, naturally there will be no AF). Important issue is the shooting info will be displayed - other D-series models will not be shown. Pity (& stupid) design...check a page such as http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/companies/nikon/htmls/models/digitalSLRs/D1X/images/lenschartD1X.gif

I want to buy a digital SLR camera. I have a Nikon FE2 and some great lenses. Th elenses are a Nikkor 105mm 1:1.8 Ser. #201545 and a Vivitar 120-600mm 1:5.6-8.0 MC Telephoto Zoom. Is there a Nikon Digital camera that would work or should I just start over?

I have a dcs-420 that will not turn on' The lcd shows a full battery charge and It reads the pcmcia card but it will not turn on with or without the battery charge adapter. It was working and I changed lenses from a 50/1.4 to Tamron 90/2.5 which works well on my 8008 and my n-90s but shuts my n-90,the original N-90. ON the N-90 the camera works as soon as I remove the Tamron Lense which is the only lense that affects th N-90. I have been using Nikons since the range finder days and I stumped . I don't have the original software that came with the dcs-420, allI have is twain software that seems to work with photoshop. Any help will be appreciated. I bought 2 bodies but until I figure out what I've done or not doneI'm reluctant tofool with the other one. Never had any problems with my 4 x 5 like this. Thanks,PAUL paulrr@charter.net
