Some Selective Digital SLRs - Message Board/Guestbook |
Whether like it or not, owners of Digital Still SLR cameras have similar problems with computer users - the hardwares tend to phased out very rapidly & replaced with new models, while the ultimate goal of a full frame 35mm format with realistic prices, older models of Digicam may present some support issues - while I hope the creation of this Message Board provide some form of relief to exiting owners as well as those who may intend to invest into one of the used units as prices are more realistic as compared to many newer models. Some of the opinion presented within the site was entirely personal and I do not wish to influence any decision prior to any potential purchases or disposal. So, this forum is intended to provide a channel for all to make use of it to present your own individual views. Lastly, we can make use of this Board to learn from each other and share experience so as to improve our skill. As I don't have much time upkeeping as well as keeping up with so many new Digital SLRs that keep streaming up from the respective manufacturers; so, as for now, just treat this website as MIR's contribution to the Network for the photographic community. Lastly, please respect ownership of various brands and AVOID touching on sensitive topics (such as my brand is better than yours...). Enjoy. As this site is specifically created for this purpose - so, please don't mail me other than constructive suggestions or rectifying mistakes found in this site, thanking you. I am trying to make a battery pack for the Kodak dcs 520 (which is the same as the Canon d2000) and I need to know the pinouts for the battery and for the power supply. From what I know, the battery has two slits, one for 7.2 positive and one for 7.2 negative. However, the other slits in the battery somehow is able to tell the camera that an authorized battery is in use. As for the ac power adapter, I am now under the impression that besides the two larger pins (+ -), the third pin has some type of function, again probably to tell the camera that an authoriaed power supply is being used. I would greatly appeciate any help in this area. Thank you.2. From : D100er (nospam@nomail.com)

I have been doing that for a long time, no issue. TTL auto-compensate for exposure reading. Guideline are set and sometimes reviewers tend to follow the printed leaflets (for an example, using reflex with a F5 was suggested using stopdown AE) but it also works on non-conventional ways. I am not concerned because it fits (mount) without problems/resistant (mine was a newer 500 manual reflex-nikkor. However, if you feel there are resistance when attempts to mount such a lens onto camera, STOP !3. From : Ron (uncle9@hotmail.com)

Please help: I have a D100 and an old 500mm Reflex Nikkor. After checking newsgroups I had the courage to mount it and set the D100 to M. Took some great shots. Now after reading Thom Hogan and some others ("Do Not Use") I'm worried. If the thing mounts without forcing and takes pictures, can it damage the camera? It is a non-ai lens, but as I said, mounted without force. Does anyone know for sure if this lens can somehow damage the D100, and if so, how?
Can you reply to my e-mail as well, as I'm very new to all this! THANKS, Ron4. From : Peter (donbtoher@cooments.com)

YES. You can. Only the more serious models like the D1/2 XXX series can be used with full information display, newer or "cheaper" Nikon can be used but stupidly, Nikon removed the data display so as to force users to update the Nikkor to newer ones.5. My name is Mirian de Marsillac, I'm a dentist in Brazil. I want to know if the Nikkor medical is still being produced. Can it be used on a digital Nikon camera (i.e. D2X)? If is not on the market what other lenses could I use for dental photography that would give me a proportion of 2:1 picture? What flash would I be needing? Thank You.6. Logical thinking (personal) may suggest a "no". I think it requires architeture of newer AF digital bodies to supplement as well. Try ask Kodak (I have tried - they point me to buy the DCS14n @%$#$((@!!). It is a Nikon product - probably Nikon may provide the best answer (I have also tried - no reply...^#$*(@(!!) !8.
