Some Selective Digital SLRs - Message Board/Guestbook

Whether like it or not, owners of Digital Still SLR cameras have similar problems with computer users - the hardwares tend to phased out very rapidly & replaced with new models, while the ultimate goal of a full frame 35mm format with realistic prices, older models of Digicam may present some support issues - while I hope the creation of this Message Board provide some form of relief to exiting owners as well as those who may intend to invest into one of the used units as prices are more realistic as compared to many newer models. Some of the opinion presented within the site was entirely personal and I do not wish to influence any decision prior to any potential purchases or disposal. So, this forum is intended to provide a channel for all to make use of it to present your own individual views. Lastly, we can make use of this Board to learn from each other and share experience so as to improve our skill. As I don't have much time upkeeping as well as keeping up with so many new Digital SLRs that keep streaming up from the respective manufacturers; so, as for now, just treat this website as MIR's contribution to the Network for the photographic community. Lastly, please respect ownership of various brands and AVOID touching on sensitive topics (such as my brand is better than yours...). Enjoy.

As this site is specifically created for this purpose - so, please don't mail me other than constructive suggestions or rectifying mistakes found in this site, thanking you. If your intention is to llok out or disposing your collection, you are also wecome to do so (as long as maintaining some basic ethic not to cheat anyone. But if you want to leave a note on your experience visiting this site, you may use the MIR's Guestbook at another new browser window by clicking on the Guestbook Link.

Don't get so upset, here is another summary:
http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/hardwares/classics/NikonF5/Flash/SB80DX/index.htm
But as you said, it didn't mention the "new group" of Nikon SLRs such as the D70 (the bottom link image files stated only Manual, non TTL auto, Repeating, Rear Curtain and slow sync are possible with the D70. That is one bad design problem in compatibility ..

This is an easy question but may find a few different answers. So, I check and see what the manyal says: When used with a compatible Speedlight such as the SB-800 or SB-600, the D70 supports the full range of options available with the Nikon Creative Lighting System (CLS; 203), including i-TTL fl ash control ( 94), Flash Color Information Communication, and FV lock etc... so, now, the 80DX - wich is supposedly also D-compatible: " ... The following Speedlights can be used in non-TTL auto and manual modes. If they are set to TTL, the camera shutter-release button will lock and no phographs can be taken. (models include: SB-80DX, SB-28DX, SB-28, SB-26, SB-25, SB-24, SB-50DX, SB-23, SB-29 2, SB-21B 2, SB-29S 2 SB-30, SB-27 1, SB-22S, SB-22, SB-20, SB-16B, SB-15 but it says it will work in: A Non-TTL auto, M Manual, Repeating flash REAR Rear-curtain sync.." next:

" .... When an optional Speedlight is attached in AUTO, Tv, Av, Macro, backlit etc. modes, the flash fires whenever a photograph is taken. The following flash modes are available: Front-curtain sync and red-eye reduction. If off or auto front curtain sync is selected when an optional Speedlight is attached, the fl ash sync mode selection will change to front-curtain sync. Auto with red-eye reduction becomes red-eye reduction. Front-curtain sync is selected automatically. Red-eye reduction can also be selected. Slow sync, slow sync with red-eye reduction, and front-curtain sync. Auto slow sync becomes slow sync, auto slow sync with red-eye reduction becomes redeye reduction, and off becomes front-curtain sync. Lastly, If the Speedlight supports the Creative Lighting System, refer to the section on CLS-compatible digital SLR cameras. The D70 is not included in the “digital SLR” category in the SB-80DX, SB-28DX, and SB-50DX manuals. The shutter will synchronize with an external fl ash at speeds of 1/ 500 s or slower...."

What a Fxck !

Either the manual is not well addressing this issue CLEARLY (or intentionally blur us with conflicting explanation) OR the camera was simply being designed to force older owners in changing to a new speedlight ! If it is true - It is worst than what they did with the Nikkor lenses in a G-spec ...

Hi,
I won a DCS 410 (with N90s) on eBay. I have no power adapter. Does anyone know what power adapter (supplied by kodak, or equivalent) can I use with this camera?
And where can I find batteries?

Thanks.

Ramon.

This is in response to the January posting by tellliott (tcake38@aol.com) regarding Kodak tele disc cameras: Kodak phased out production of disc film in 1998-99. Here are a couple of links relating to this: http://user.itl.net/~kypfer/disc.htm ; http://www.toptown.com/nowhere/kypfer/DISCdiscontinued.htm

Which older Speedlight models can be used in a multiple wireless configuration WITHOUT an SU-4 adapter? Any? I'm confused as to whether the SB-28's or any others can be set as Remotes to work correctly with the SB-800. Does anybody know the full wireless compatibility of the older flash units as they already are without needing SU-4 modules? Many thanks!

I have a nikon/kodak dcs330 which seems to work normally. When a picture is taken it comes out completely black. If I shoot into a stron light source the picture comes out slightly lighter but still not able to see any detail. Could it be the ccd or the connection of the ccd card?

Fenando: go to this page:
http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/companies/Kodak/index6.htm
Scrool down to the bottom section and you can see three links provided for downloading the instruction manual. ( I am not sure if any of them that require you to registered as pro members first before permitting you to download) just try. okay.
