Some Selective Digital SLRs - Message Board/Guestbook

Whether like it or not, owners of Digital Still SLR cameras have similar problems with computer users - the hardwares tend to phased out very rapidly & replaced with new models, while the ultimate goal of a full frame 35mm format with realistic prices, older models of Digicam may present some support issues - while I hope the creation of this Message Board provide some form of relief to exiting owners as well as those who may intend to invest into one of the used units as prices are more realistic as compared to many newer models. Some of the opinion presented within the site was entirely personal and I do not wish to influence any decision prior to any potential purchases or disposal. So, this forum is intended to provide a channel for all to make use of it to present your own individual views. Lastly, we can make use of this Board to learn from each other and share experience so as to improve our skill. As I don't have much time upkeeping as well as keeping up with so many new Digital SLRs that keep streaming up from the respective manufacturers; so, as for now, just treat this website as MIR's contribution to the Network for the photographic community. Lastly, please respect ownership of various brands and AVOID touching on sensitive topics (such as my brand is better than yours...). Enjoy.

As this site is specifically created for this purpose - so, please don't mail me other than constructive suggestions or rectifying mistakes found in this site, thanking you. You can try Desmond. YL Cameras at 1st floor, Pudu Plaza. An alternate is Keat Photo, along Jalan Pudu, which is slightly down the Pudu Jail. The last is Selangor Photo at Pertama Complex, Jalan Tuanku Adbul Rahman. Compare and ask for rough charges. Because digital camera is hrad to determine the cause of your "problem" with the camera. So, it is actually very difficult to give you a rough quote. Well, why don't try Nikon Malaysia ? http://www.Nikon.com.my

OK, I've purchased the SCSI to USB cable, and have it connected to the DCS200. When I power up the DCS 200, the LED light on the adapter cable lights, but nothing else happens. I cannot see the camera as another drive, nor does a "Found New Hardware" message appear. What do I do next?

This is an AF confirm / IS enable chip is an emulator of camera such as an Olympus AF lens. Sold Separately (e.g. M42-4/3, OM-4/3, Nikon – 4/3, Contax-4/3, Leica-4/3, etc. ) It is an electronic device that will "trick" the Olympus camera to activate 2 great features:- (1) with AF confirmation indicator, and (2) with Image stabilizer. It has been tested successfully on Olympus E-300, E-330, E-500, E-400, E-410, E-510, E-3 However, it is NOT compatible with E-1 This chip could be easily installed onto any Olympus 4/3 adapters - Do visit our website :- http://store.tagotech.com/product_info.php?cPath=22&products_id=140 -- any enquiry, do drop us an email. - Paul

There are inexpensive SCSI - USB adapter. You can use that to solve the issue. I made a mistake too, with the F5 Photo Secretary. Solved.

There are a few topos in my posting carried here from our LX site. MACes should read MACS. And, I attempted to say that the most available image manipulation software is in 32 bit versions. Certainly there are some 64 bit image manipulation software packages out, but not from the number of available 32 bit publishers and with all the add-on features (plug-in) vendors. Color depth has to improve for digital, yet one present trade-off is between an image in-camera recording speed with encoding all the details of scenic shot chroma and luminance information (as with RAW origination speeds, file sizes, and images recorded on a memory card vs. JPEG rendering speeds, burst rates, and file size increasing the number of images recorded on a card). Thanks for your indulgence. --Jay

PS Why does a Pentax body appear in the banner here, which I understand is a Nikon Mount Digital site?

I have an old Kodak DCS200 (circa 1992). It's been sitting in a drawer here at work, and I pulled the batteries out and replaced them with fresh ones, and the darn thing still works. Hard disk spins up and it takes pics like it was new.

Now, the question becomes, how do I get them DL'd from the camera to my PC? I know it uses a SCSI connection, but is there any way to hook it up to today's technology (USB, FireWire, etc).

John
