Modern Classic SLRs Series : Various Nikon camera models - Message Board/Guestbook |
Since with the inception of Nippon Kogaku until the current Nikon Corporation - they were probably hundreds of camera models as well as million of Nikkor optics being sold thus far. It is very hard to satisfy everyone intention when each surfer coming to this Pictorial History Website (first created since 1997). Over the last few years, I have constructed quite a number of sites featuring a selective Nikon camera models (Nikon F(based on Mike Liu's previous effort, the Nikon F2 series, F3 Series, Nikon F4, NIkon F5, the digital SLR series as well as the midrange models such as Nikon FM series, FA, FE series, Nikkormat/Nikomat and the compact EM/FG/FG20 etc..). Each of these featured model has their respective Message Board to support specific owner of each camera types. However, there are a number of very good Nikon SLRs (as well as the film and/or Digital compacts wer quite exciting too. But due to various reasons, I cannot featured them one by one. This Message Board was created just for that purpose - to provide a gateway for those that were not being featured. You may use it for whatever you think suitable - questions & answers (Q&A) or just make good use of it to share experience among one another. The use of this section of the photography SITE is not confined soly for this purpose, you may also make use of it for other photographic matters. Some of the remarks presented within the pictorial history site was entirely personal and I do not wish to influence any decision prior to any potential purchases or disposal of your equipment. You may make use of this convenience here to present your own views as well. Enjoy.

Hi Gianni:
The all-black version was the original EM. The style was not received as well as Nikon hoped, I guess (although the camera was quite successful), and they revised it slightly with the silver ring on the lens mount and different leatherette texture to make it look more like the larger Nikon models of the period.5. A friend of mine recently purchased in Italy through e-bay a Nikon EM with the 50mm 1:1,8 (All black version): I live in Italy too and I have two EM (italian) bodies but they show a different texture of the skin cover and chrome buttons for battery check and exposure compensation, my friend's EM has two blue plastic buttons. Do you have any explanation for this? It seems to be an older model by its lower serial number.

I have a roll of film in camera and the battery goes dead.
After replacing the battery, The viewer at top of camera is showing all zeros and a large E for Empty.
How do I get the film out without any damage to pictures already taken? There are 11 already taken to the best of my recollection.
Or can I take more pictures and will camera rewind itself? This last part worries me because of all the zeros in viewer.
Another problem is that I have missplaced my owners manual.
Your help is needed and appreicated.
Thanks, Rich

Hi Jack:
Only place I know is on another camera. Some parts are interchangeable between the EM, FG and FG20, but your best (and probably least expensive) source will be another EM body.8. From : Jack (mazamaland@yahoo.com)

I am looking to find parts for my EM, the film advance lever is broken and I would like to fix it myself. Does anyone know where I might find parts for the camera?
Thanks9. From : tim (private@HELP.COM)

Technically, in Aperture priority AE, Programmed AE and Tv you don't need a light meter anymore as camera's metering circuitry will work for you (EXCEPT you don't put the exposure to extreme i.e. shooting bright sunny light and turn your lens to f1.4 in Aperture priority AE etc. The problem may arise when you are operating in full manual control for exposure then a light meter will be useful. Safe to use in programm AE, I think it has auto shift exposure in PROGRAM AE for FG. Aperture priority with aperture selection between f/2.8~f8 should also very safe for any general photography.10. this site has a manual, it is good enough. http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/companies/nikon/htmls/models/compact-images/Nikon35Ti28Ti/Html/index1.htm
for original manual or print copies, try www.craigcamera.com USD15-20-00 a copy. yeap The battery cover was badly designed, you have to ask NIkon for help or seek Ebay or online repair services/ parts supply companies.
