Modern Classic SLRs Series : Various Nikon camera models - Message Board/Guestbook |
Since with the inception of Nippon Kogaku until the current Nikon Corporation - they were probably hundreds of camera models as well as million of Nikkor optics being sold thus far. It is very hard to satisfy everyone intention when each surfer coming to this Pictorial History Website (first created since 1997). Over the last few years, I have constructed quite a number of sites featuring a selective Nikon camera models (Nikon F(based on Mike Liu's previous effort, the Nikon F2 series, F3 Series, Nikon F4, NIkon F5, the digital SLR series as well as the midrange models such as Nikon FM series, FA, FE series, Nikkormat/Nikomat and the compact EM/FG/FG20 etc..). Each of these featured model has their respective Message Board to support specific owner of each camera types. However, there are a number of very good Nikon SLRs (as well as the film and/or Digital compacts wer quite exciting too. But due to various reasons, I cannot featured them one by one. This Message Board was created just for that purpose - to provide a gateway for those that were not being featured. You may use it for whatever you think suitable - questions & answers (Q&A) or just make good use of it to share experience among one another. The use of this section of the photography SITE is not confined soly for this purpose, you may also make use of it for other photographic matters. Some of the remarks presented within the pictorial history site was entirely personal and I do not wish to influence any decision prior to any potential purchases or disposal of your equipment. You may make use of this convenience here to present your own views as well. Enjoy.

Hi.
I have a question about my Nikon FG-20 i just purchased. I'm a first time user of film SLR's. My question is about the battery. I just bought a new battery for it, but the battery meter inside only reads just above the "red zone", almost as if it is going to die out any minute. Any suggestions? Thanks.2. Hi Marilyn:
What camera is it?
What exactly do you mean by "nothing happened"? Were you unable to turn the screw? Did you turn it but it did not come out? If you removed it from the camera, did you find an empty battery chamber (a black plastic hole with a metal contact in the bottom), or a battery (a round shiny silver metal thing filling up the entire hole, probably with a + engraved on top)? If you found a battery, did it come out, or is it stuck in the hole?

Hello there,
Recently I've received an old Nikon camera. This is the M model with a serial number M9061588. Reading info about that camera, on your website, I can not place that high serial number within the range you posted there. Is it possible this is one of the rejected models because of the misplaced numbers 9 and 6 or there is another explanation? Thanks in advance for your help.
Sincerely,
Rudolf Kinsky4. From : Marilyn (bodeep9@aol.com)

Hi Scott:
It does seem unusual that the rangefinder would drift out of adjustment sitting on the shelf, but over time it does happen. It might be that a mirror or prism has gotten loose on its mountings after more than 50 years since it was assembled.7. From : rick oleson (rick_oleson@yahoo.com)

Hi Jacinto:
I don't have manuals, but you are welcome to copies of the notes that I do have on the S and SP (I don't have anything on the S2). Email me at the above address if you'd like a copy.8. From : Scott (swalen1@yahoo.com)

I have an S2 that I've taken good care of for many years. The rangefinder did require re-synchronization 10 years ago. It was worked on at a factory Nikon rep in San Francisco. The repair was shortlived. And went out of synch again. Has anyone had such synchronization undoings?

Hi Tony:
If you can't get it to work per the manual, send it back. The time you take tinkering with it, and anything you do to "fix" it, will work against your ability to get a repair or refund from the seller.
