Bought a used nikon FG and purchased a NEW battery. Still won't work - won't turn on when shutter is pressed. Any help (bad electronics?) thanks

Hi Daren:

Yes, that's basically what it means. With a Non-AI lens, the camera meter does not know what aperture you have set, the meter cell sees the scene through the open lens at f/1.2 and assumes that what it sees is what the film will see.

When you press the DOF lever, the meter DOES see what the film will see. Hold the DOF lever down while you adjust the meter in manual mode. You should also be able to use AUTO (aperture priority) mode, by pressing the DOF lever in and holding it while you release the shutter.

That's a good question.... I guess we don't have the Nikonos lenses in the system.

Dear Mr. Rick, I read your posts and answers very often. I have a question though, how to use the "stoped Down" meter ? I have a ai F3, the instruction said press the depth of field preview and meter. Does it means I follow the meter guide +- by turning the lens aperture with my old 55mm f/1.2 with the DOF depressed ?

Once I considered bying a LW-Nikkor 28mm f/2.8 lens for my Nikonos V, but I can´t find - and read about - it among the 28mm lenses on this site. How come?
