estbook

Since with the inception of Nippon Kogaku until the current Nikon Corporation - they were probably hundreds of camera models as well as million of Nikkor optics being sold thus far. It is very hard to satisfy everyone intention when each surfer coming to this Pictorial History Website (first created since 1997). Over the last few years, I have constructed quite a number of sites featuring a selective Nikon camera models (Nikon F(based on Mike Liu's previous effort, the Nikon F2 series, F3 Series, Nikon F4, NIkon F5, the digital SLR series as well as the midrange models such as Nikon FM series, FA, FE series, Nikkormat/Nikomat and the compact EM/FG/FG20 etc..). Each of these featured model has their respective Message Board to support specific owner of each camera types. However, there are a number of very good Nikon SLRs (as well as the film and/or Digital compacts wer quite exciting too. But due to various reasons, I cannot featured them one by one. This Message Board was created just for that purpose - to provide a gateway for those that were not being featured. You may use it for whatever you think suitable - questions & answers (Q&A) or just make good use of it to share experience among one another. The use of this section of the photography SITE is not confined soly for this purpose, you may also make use of it for other photographic matters. Some of the remarks presented within the pictorial history site was entirely personal and I do not wish to influence any decision prior to any potential purchases or disposal of your equipment. You may make use of this convenience here to present your own views as well. Enjoy.

My Father has a N4004 Model that is double exposing successive frames. The repair shop he sent it to says he needs a shutter advance part to repair it but, they stated the part is no longer available. Can anyone help with tips for determining availability and/or locating this part?

Gratefully,
SMD

Actually, you can use the COOLPIX 885 as the user reference, I think there is a PDF user guide here at this page as bth models are quite similar in nature except for the image resolution.

how is the battery changed for the MF-20 data back? I see what I think is the access panel on the back (to the right of the adjust button), but I don't want to break it.

Hi Alana:

It sounds like you have a problem in the wind system.... there is a clutch under the wind lever that could fail, though I have not encountered this in a Nikon EM (I have seen it in some other cameras). If this fails to engage, then the lever moves but the shutter does not charge, therefore pressing the release button has no effect.

Unless you have some experience in working inside cameras, or are willing to sacrifice the camera as a learning tool, I don't think this is a good prospect for a do-it-yourself attempt. I would suggest setting it aside until you are able to send it in for repair.

Half a billion hits since 97 ? that is a lot... well, I have been here for the last five years and often making a few vistis per month, so, I guess I have contributed quite a number of hits too, ha ha . Anyway, I noticed the entire site has been revamped, well done.

p.s. just love your new F5 site, penty of good pictures & articles, and I can easily spent few days browsing sround reading over & over with them. I noticed there was a link to a new Canon Eos. Don't abandon this, I hope the Nikon sections can be continued, you are the BEST !
