Since with the inception of Nippon Kogaku until the current Nikon Corporation - they were probably hundreds of camera models as well as million of Nikkor optics being sold thus far. It is very hard to satisfy everyone intention when each surfer coming to this Pictorial History Website (first created since 1997). Over the last few years, I have constructed quite a number of sites featuring a selective Nikon camera models (Nikon F(based on Mike Liu's previous effort, the Nikon F2 series, F3 Series, Nikon F4, NIkon F5, the digital SLR series as well as the midrange models such as Nikon FM series, FA, FE series, Nikkormat/Nikomat and the compact EM/FG/FG20 etc..). Each of these featured model has their respective Message Board to support specific owner of each camera types. However, there are a number of very good Nikon SLRs (as well as the film and/or Digital compacts wer quite exciting too. But due to various reasons, I cannot featured them one by one. This Message Board was created just for that purpose - to provide a gateway for those that were not being featured. You may use it for whatever you think suitable - questions & answers (Q&A) or just make good use of it to share experience among one another. The use of this section of the photography SITE is not confined soly for this purpose, you may also make use of it for other photographic matters. Some of the remarks presented within the pictorial history site was entirely personal and I do not wish to influence any decision prior to any potential purchases or disposal of your equipment. You may make use of this convenience here to present your own views as well. Enjoy.

Hello! I have recently bought a Nikon FE2 (black) which is very lovely. I have some old lenses from my grandpa, one is a "Nikkor-S Auto 55mm f/1.2" - can I use this lens with the FE2? Ofcourse it fits well, mounted onto it, but I was thinking of correct exposure using the A-setting on the camera, automatic time. Thanks for your help! //Mattia

Hi Jim:

No, there is no digital back for the 801.

However, for what you would have had to pay for one if it existed, you can buy a Nikon digital camera body that will accept your lenses.

Does anyone know if someone makes a digital back for a Nikon F-801? If so please send info on where to obtain it.

Thanks,

Hi Louise:

That forum is at:

http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/hardwares/messageboard/lenses/index.php

So you don't have to go there and hunt, though, here is the response that was posted there by JWoods:

"Just go to the bottom of that page you have visited, it stated of your F801/AF-S 24/120mm as such :-

IMPORTANT: Compatible Nikon SLR camera models with the AF-S( Applicable to AF-I) Series lenses:- Nikon D2 series, D1 series, D200, D100, D80, D70S, D7,0 D5,0 D40X, D40, Nikon F6, F5, F4, F100, F90X series/F90 series, F80 series, F70D, Pronea 600i/S.

With the following models, the AF will be reverting back to MANUAL FOCUS only: Nikon F60QD, F50QD, F-801 series, F-601, F-501, F-401 series. NOTE: F3AF is not possible at all with this AF-S VR zoom (neither the TC-16AS works. "

I hope this helps.

Rick

Sorry, as I did a quick switch and forgot to bookmark the earlier forum, dear Mr. Rick, can you point to to the "LENSES" forum again (Sorry...) ?

Hi Louise:

The AF cameras are not my area of expertise, but I noticed that your question has been answered on the "Lenses" forum page. The increasingly complicated pattern of incompatibility among Nikon lenses and cameras has become a point of serious irritation for me..... it seems to me to be a case of very bad judgment on Nikon's part.

I have asked the same Q at somewhere too, but Mr Rick, can you tell me this ? Friend told me it is not advisable to use the AF-S Nikon lens onto my F801s (N8008s). Any truth ? I am looking for an original 24-120mm AFS zoom lens as featured here http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/companies/nikon/nikkoresources/AFNikkor/AF24120mm/index1.htm
