Modern Classic SLRs Series : Various Nikon camera models - Message Board/Guestbook |
Since with the inception of Nippon Kogaku until the current Nikon Corporation - they were probably hundreds of camera models as well as million of Nikkor optics being sold thus far. It is very hard to satisfy everyone intention when each surfer coming to this Pictorial History Website (first created since 1997). Over the last few years, I have constructed quite a number of sites featuring a selective Nikon camera models (Nikon F(based on Mike Liu's previous effort, the Nikon F2 series, F3 Series, Nikon F4, NIkon F5, the digital SLR series as well as the midrange models such as Nikon FM series, FA, FE series, Nikkormat/Nikomat and the compact EM/FG/FG20 etc..). Each of these featured model has their respective Message Board to support specific owner of each camera types. However, there are a number of very good Nikon SLRs (as well as the film and/or Digital compacts wer quite exciting too. But due to various reasons, I cannot featured them one by one. This Message Board was created just for that purpose - to provide a gateway for those that were not being featured. You may use it for whatever you think suitable - questions & answers (Q&A) or just make good use of it to share experience among one another. The use of this section of the photography SITE is not confined soly for this purpose, you may also make use of it for other photographic matters. Some of the remarks presented within the pictorial history site was entirely personal and I do not wish to influence any decision prior to any potential purchases or disposal of your equipment. You may make use of this convenience here to present your own views as well. Enjoy.

I have a Nikon FG that is now about twenty years old. I doubt that I will ever use it again. Will any of the lenses from that camera work on new Nikon digital cameras? I believe my lenses are Series E. Also, what does everybody do with their old film cameras once they switch to digital?
Thanks.2. From : matt (sorenk@gmail.com)

I've got a Nikon FG. Great camera. It's been a real workhorse, but a joy to use...until recently.
For some reason the film advancement lever is jammed.
I've taken the bottom off the camera and found a small lever I can tap that releases the shutter, but after I advance it again, the shutter button won't go back into a ready position...
Would anyone have any ideas as to why that button isn't catching or something?? I hope i don't have to get it repaired...but i don't want to buy a new one as the camera's been in the family for a while. ;/
Thanks for any information!3. From : Davina Bullimore (dgbullimore@hotmail.com)

I have a Nikon F-601 bought in 1992. The back lid does not shut anymore because I broke of the tiny post that keeps the lid closed. The camera is still in very good condition. I don't know what the value was when it was bought. I am trying to claim the repair/replace cost from the insurance. Can anyone tell me what the value was? In case they will replace the camera.

For the gentleman who asked for the case of the old Nikon Rangefinder, here is an auction for another old, original bag by Nikon:

Rob, The FG is now roughly 25 years young. Due to age, all examples of this model need new mirror damping foam and foam light seals. I don't think a dead battery will cause the mirror to stay up (that's the only thing that can block the viewfinder). It's possible that the mirror damping foam at the top of the mirrorbox has turned to goo, and that the mirror is stuck to it.
Incidentally, I own four FGs, and this model is my favorite Nikon for MF work. I've tried numerous other Nikon bodies, but always come back to these for use with my AI and AIS MF lenses. Camera enthusiasts pooh-pooh the FG for its supposed lack of features, and that has driven prices way down on the used market. Yay, more for me!!7. From : rick oleson (rick_oleson@yahoo.com)

Hi Rob Have you tried a fresh battery? The FG is electronic, and the battery might have had just enough life left in it for a few shots after a long time in storage.8. From : Rob D (123.123@123.com)

Hi. I've just inherited a Nikon FG and I wound it on and pressed the shutter a couple of times with no film in. Second time the advance lever locked and the shutter stayed locked (can't see thru viewfinder). Does anyone know how I can release this please? Hope I haven't done something I shouldn't :/ Thanks in advance Rob9. From : Jasper (nomail@nospam.com)

I have one Nikon S, it came with a Nikon case. I guess those days there were no "third party" labels making cases for a Japanese camera producers. It has an old Nikon letter (Nippon Kokagu) So, it is sage if you one of that for your Nikon 1.
