users back in 1986. As a detaching system users, you may use this site

I have owned a New Canon F1 since it was introduced but, being almost exclusively a large format photographer, I rarely shoot it or my T90. About ten years ago, I noticed that my Hi-Power NiCd Battery Pack FN was weak so I took it to International Camera in Chicago to have it re-celled. Unfortunately, I think they used the wrong batteries because the camera would only fire at about 2-3 frames (in high speed) and the charger light would never go off as it should when the pack is fully charged. I put it out of my mind but I have an urge to do some hand-held photography now. (I did pick up a Battery Pack FN a few years ago in case I could no longer re-cell my Hi-Power NiCd pack.)
Apparently the Hi-Power NiCd pack uses different NiCds than the regular NiCd battery pack does because it will fire more rolls of film and it works at much lower temperatures. I was recently happy to learn that Batteries Plus can probably re-cell my pack but, this time, I want to make sure that it is done right. I'm concerned that if I take the pack to Batteries Plus, they may remove the batteries that International Camera installed and install the same type again, putting me back right where I started after International Camera re-celled the pack.
I would like to be able to tell Batteries Plus what batteries should be used but I can find no specs in the manual for the pack. Does anyone know which specific batteries should be used in the Hi-Power NiCd Battery Pack FN or their specs? I just don't want them to do the same thing International Camera did.4. Has anyone ever tried the 133D (CAT system for OLD F1) with the NEW F1?
Does it work in Auto mode?
Does old CAT work? (I guess not)
Does it not work at all ? (due to CAT contacts)
Cheers

Hi Richard:
There is a directory of camera repair services at www.acecam.com where you may be able to find someone to consult about your problem; chances are that it can be repaired for a cost well within the value of the camera. As for lens prices, this will vary tremendously depending on the particular lens you have in mind; I would search for what you want on eBay, and then click the "completed auctions" box at the left side of the screen. This will show you actual recent sales and the prices that they sold for.7. From : Richard McAllister (rich@semo.net)

I have a 37 yr old F-1 that I bought new with the basic 1.4 FD lense and case. Somehow, the match needles either got broke or otherwise quit working. I barely used the thing, probably less that 10 rolls of film. What would be involved to get it fixed? What is it worth? What should I pay for a good used FD zoom lense? Thanks.8. Hello Duey:
I can't put a number on it, but yes, there is some value in your camera. The F1 was Canon's top line professional camera throughout the manual focus era, and they are highly respected by photographers and collectors alike; one in such good condition would be worth some money. Of course, in these days of amateurs happily spending thousands of dollars on a new digital SLR and a lens or two, the frame of reference of what amounts to significant value has inflated considerably from what it was in the days of film.... still, the F1 has a high water mark status that will never disappear.9. I recently was given by my cousin a Canon F-1 series camera as a gift. The reason being is that he bought it for his children to use, as it becomes they never used it. When I purchased the Canon EOS digital camera 7 months ago for my business I used it very much. In the event of this camera given to me the F-1 series it came with some remarkable lenses as well. Im not sure what to make of it and was wondering if there is some type of monetary value to it. It is already 38 yrs old and still in excellent condition, with a silver box container for the camera and all its components. If there is anyone that can give me some information regarding this camera I would appreciate it. Im not in it for the value as it is now a sentimenatl valued piece of equipment. As my cousin is hoping for me to use it for my benefit, so I may be able to take pictures with it and show him the value it still has. Please anyone who can give me anything about it I would love to hear from you all.
Thank you,
Duey @ MMB
